I went here for a special power of attorney on Aug 9,2022. Despite the bad reviews about customer service, I found that all the staff I spoke to were decent and helpful. Unfortunately, there is no system for the line up. You get there and ask where to go and the person at reception will tell you to wait at "processor 2" and you won't know if the other people seated are also in the same queue as you so paunahan, same system in the Philippines. I also find most consulates prefer cash payments and it is very questionable and the receipt is handwritten on a pre-printed Philippine Consulate invoice. We are in Canada still implementing the Philippine system of having no system. Major turn off. The place is spacious and neat, but also, very empty. If you don't follow instructions and miss some requirements like photocopies, not bringing cash, not having a prepaid envelope, you will have a bad day. There is no photocopier in the office. The cubicles are empty, you basically go there, present your requirements and they give you a piece of paper to give to the cashier which is another paunahan queue. To their credit, the paunahan queue system worked that day because it was dead. The place wasn't packed but it wouldn't have worked if the place was busy. I also thought why the online reservation was always full or why it only opens 1 day for a few hours at a time. I did have to check their website for several months for a slot. While I'm thankful it wasn't busy, it seemed like a waste of time and resources not to have a full office to service more people who need it. I read the website instructions over and over and expected I had all the requirements but I unfortunately only had 1 witness for my SPA so I had to ask somebody else to sign. I was also told I was supposed to sign my SPA in their presence did not know that and I also misinterpreted the requirement that said to have a "note" with my address, email, phone #. I brought a letter of a bill mailed to me but I was told I supposed to write all that info on a separate piece of paper. Weird, but ok. Lastly, the "owner" that keeps commenting on people's posts here is very condescending, it shows you the culture of toxic Filipinos. People here have genuine feedbacks and he personally attacks the commenter's intelligence. How arrogant. Anyway, while was out of there in under an hour, the whole system does not have Canadian standards. Expect Philippines standard. In addition, this place is WAY better than their last office. I was a bit turned off from the last office with all the giant lengthy, wordy signages much like offices in the Phils. I went in there while the place so busy and had no idea where to go and what to do. It had palengke feels. This office is much more spacious and less stimulating. For a person with ADD like me, I don't feel attacked with the multiple signs everywhere. My thoughts: Please normalize speaking in English. I can understand Tagalog but don't speak it fluently. You are now in Canada and cater to people in Canada. Instead of people relying on staff instructions, receive all people coming in on a proper window and designate from there. Assign numbers, grab their requirements, pass it to processor 1, 2, 3 or passport 1,2,3 window to be called. From there, to the cashier to be called. It's very stressful to have multiple line ups and having to eyeball other people to find out if it's your turn. You have been to a Service Canada Centre or a registry right? And also, consideration for the elderly, they're not always tech savvy or well informed so at least have a photocopier service for them. Is the consulate so poor that they're not fully automated and can't offer automated payments or photocopy 1 page for you?
Updated April 1, 2022. Google Maps updated the red marker/pin! We usually parked at the back of the building: Lot 193 115 - 11th Ave SE, so no need to cross the road/street. One day parking pass costs 17.05 per day. You need to upload Indigo App to pay. The Consulate’s service for passport renewal is sooo fast! Staff are very polite and accommodating. In our experience, it took us more or less 30 minutes for two passport application.
Easy parking across the street. Staff is very polite and helpful. The new location is much more organized with plenty of room. Please read your appointment details carefully to avoid having to wait in the lobby.
Definitely not impressed and disappointed - this is by far the worst customer service I've ever dealt with. We had our passports renewed in August 2022. 3 months later, the passports arrived but one was missing. I had to email them in Nov about the issue which took them more than a week to reply. To my disappointment, the renewal processing of the said passport was canceled without our notice. Thanks for not informing me, btw. And for what reason that the renewal processing was canceled? I don't know because they won't tell. 3 months later and there's still no update about the passport. Was the issue even looked after? I tried calling them but it goes straight to voice-mail. I've sent multiple emails for updates but automated responses are the fastest replies I'd get. It would take them days to reply or won't even reply until you send them consecutive emails. Parang nakakahiya tuloy mag ask ng update. You're lucky if you get a reply from the within the day you sent an email or have your phone calls get answered. Mapapa-haynako ka nalang talaga.
Excellent experienced. From the main floor screening up to the 9th floor, everybody were nice and polite. Wow!! quick service on passport renewal. Make sure to read the instructions on your email to insure a smooth and convenient appointment. Thank you PCGCC staff.
I’ve had only a few appointments at the Philippine Consulate General but each visit has always been quick and straightforward. The folks who work there are courteous and happy to help. The current rating they have on Google is not reflective of their 5-star service. Hopefully they get the recognition they deserve!
Very nice service. I made a suggestion Google maps to change the pin on map. It has the right address but pin was wrong when my mom went there. Hope they will update it soon to help others locate it easily. I think it would help to search Calgary Business center as well.
The process was smooth and fast. Overall, everyone was polite and nice. it was straightforward. just be sure to follow everything they put on their website, bring all your documents and give it to them when they ask you for it. Waiting for my documents to arrive in the mail now. My appointment took about 20 minutes for SPA, 4 documents total.
Requested information via email and has received a timely and very informative response. Thank you. Received extra-mile service from ma'am Tin. Thank you. Also, sir Ronald is very polite and helpful and queries are answered well. Thank you.
Be ready to face inconvenience as they don’t have printers, you provide your own envelopes, no debit or credit cash only, and you have to bring exact amount of cash as they don’t have coins for your change. If your PR card is expired there will be extra charges too. Very unorganized. Maybe invest on debit machines as most people are not carrying cash with them!
