I have been going to the consulate for a few appointments in the past 2 months based on citizenship queries and applications; and I have been met with nothing but kind, compassionate, and efficient staff. They are very knowledgeable and I would like to thank them I'll leave out names, for their support in this process. I have nothing but high regards for this Consulate.
Iñaki is very knowledgeable and helpful. He showed great care and concern when assisting us navigate the paperwork. He made this a very stress-free experience. The people in general were very pleasant and seem genuinely willing to help. Wonderful experience all round.
Mr Echebarria is wonderful. Thank you from the bottom of my heart . From the beginning, M. Echebarria responded every email that I sent in a timely, professional and friendly manner. He received me for the visa application, and the whole process went smoothly.
Tailor Made Healthcare Spain have assisted many canadian citizens with setting up the visa compliant Spanish private healthcare policy. Different consulates have different requirements which can be confusing. Canada seems to have a team that are consistant and have responded to our questions promptly .
Beware folks! Everything people are saying on here about the visa lady is true. She's extremely rude, arrogant and dismissive. In order to renew my Spanish passport I was told to bring a physical copy of all the supporting documents I had previously emailed to them, along with EXACTLY $43.50 in cash... Because they only accept cash for some reason. Anyway, the very first thing she did was SCOLD ME for not bringing a printed version of two registratation forms THEY had originally emailed me, which I had filled in and emailed back to THEM a month before my visit, as requested. I said "but you HAVE the forms, I emailed them back to you a month ago!". Well, she then proceeded to whine and belittle my intelligence, telling me that their emails clearly stated that I had to bring the forms too not true. But here's the worst part: she said "..and, in any case, I can't print them right now because my colleague is not here today and he's the guy who does the printing. You'll have to fill them out again by hand". Yep... that's right... those words you just read literally came out of the mouth of a visa worker at a consulate office in 2022. I'm not making any of this up, this literally happened to me on Thursday... And you know WHY they needed the physical version of the forms? Because apparently you have to physically sign these stupid forms as well, even though I had already dated and signed them digitally a month ago like they asked me to do... And all of this just to REGISTER my name with them!!! Unbelievable... Honestly, you should avoid this dumpster fire at all costs if you can. And if you can't, then my advice is that you assume that they are stuck in the middle ages and therefore do not have basic stuff like printers, photocopy machines, and card machines. In other words, make sure you print and bring along ALL the documents you exchange with them. And bring the exact amount of cash they ask for too!! God forbid you ask them for change... Pathetic.
I found many people mentioned that the staff did not response the e-mail. Yes, I met the same situation here. I e-mailed them on Apr. 13 but nobody got me back.Today is May. 25. How I solved this problem today morning is to directly go there on-site. To be honest, the staffs on-site are helpful. They directly send me the e-mail and ask me to prepare the materials. Then I need to reply that e-mail to make the formal reservation. Hope they will reply me this time. I would suggest anybody meet the same situation as me to directly step in there and talk with them.
Someone else has written that this consulate does the best they can to help people. It’s absolutely true. My experience with consular officer Ion Echebarria is the best experience I have had with any consulate of any country EVER. After having shot a bunch of mails to various countries’ consulates to set up appointment dates for visas, I literally chose to go to Spain over other countries because of how slow, inconsistent and unreliable the other consulates responses seemed. I needed a consulate that was reliable with visa processing when covid already imposes so much uncertainty on travel. So oddly enough that’s how I decided to travel to Spain and I have Senor Ion to thank for that. Not only were they extremely accommodative and flexible with appointment dates, they went out of their way to ensure I got my passport back stamped with the visa at an unbelievable speed. I won’t mention what that speed was to avoid setting a precedent that creates a problem for the consulate where everyone who reads my review wants it at the same speed but trust me when I say it was unparalleled. Senor Ion went out of his way to help me and I am grateful to him.
Very helpful staff. I had a great experience at the consulate of Spain in Montreal. Thanks to Ion, the process was very clear and efficient, on top of that he answered all my questions with patience and was very friendly.
I think the same lady that a lot of people here is mentioning has helped us as well. She was so kind, patient and professional. she tried to help us in every way she could. She was making an pleasant atmosphere for the consulate. If someone is talking over the counter and smiling, I could guess that she is there , without even seeing her face. Thank you so much for your help.
I went to the embassy after the Toronto branch wasn't answering their phones for over a week, not even knowing if the Montreal consulate could help me. The gentleman at the front desk was kind, patient, and extremely helpful. He couldn't promise they could help, but he made sure that the appropriate person phoned the other consulate and within an hour I was phoned back and things had been resolved with my documents. I went as soon as they opened, so there were only two people ahead of me in line which went quickly. But given how stressed I was over the situation they handled it incredibly professionally and made me feel listened too, which was nice.
