My wife suffered a seizure whilst we were on holiday just outside Brighton. Although the hospital has some structural issues the care she received was absolutely superb. I took her into A and E and by the time I had parked my car she was being treated. Excellent communications from nurses, doctors and consultants. All the staff from cleaners to consultants were wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you so much for two weeks of absolutely excellent care.
I cannot stress just HOW fantastic the staff in A&E and the Trauma Ward were- when my 97 year old father was admitted. Their wonderful care and excellent communication skills were exemplary. In an emergency the NHS are the best in the world. My thanks for saving my father’s life.
Absolutely exceptional care and diagnosis skills in the A & E department. Yes, you have to wait and that hasn’t changed much in 30 years. If you are very ill you will be seen straight away, if less so, then it can be a while . Most of the staff and nurses are young approx below 40 , but fantastically trained and super efficient. Trolleys are still lined up in corridors, which is not great, but they are organised and no one is neglected. A big shout out to Richard the ACP, who was kind, very thorough and made the whole 6 hour experience very worthwhile. We are very lucky to have such a great service in our area……..be appreciative!
Staff are amazing!! and I really felt for them and what they have to deal with. The hospital itself is a ****hole, A&E is not fit for purpose, the whole place felt tatty and grubby, carpark lift full of discarded masks disgusting people along with other litter and a lanyard. Was there visiting a family member over a few days this weekend, hoping I never land up there myself.
The RSCH isn't the best looking hospital as parts of it are really old and pretty much falling apart. But as someone who has grown up in sussex the RSCH has been a huge part of my life - they saved my dad's life a few years ago and they cared for my grandad so well in the final months of his life too. But i never ever expected that i would one day end up in the RSCH fighting for my life. In April 2020 thats exactley what happend right at the peak of covid i was told my heart was failing because of birth defects that had only just been found in my 30s. I didnt feel like i was dying all i had was severe vertigo but i was slowly dying. A bed was found on the cardiac ward my dad drove me there i hugged my family goodbye incase i never saw them again and i walked in with no idea if i'd ever walk out again. I was alone other than the nurses who were angels - i had to wait a week for my op as my case was so complex and i refused to be sent to London for fear of getting covid. But the nurses despite how busy they were made time to check i was ok and held my hand if i was crying - it meant the world as my world was falling apart. Eventually my op day came and terrfied i told them ive changed my mind the nurse held my hand and with that comfort i was asleep. I woke up in intensive care and it was awful to see the ceiling and no know if i was alive or just dreaming but the nurse asked if i knew where i was all i could say was yep im beside the seaside beside the sea. You see as a sussex girl all my life i trusted the RSCH staff with my life and i knew they'd save me despite even science saying i wouldn't make it the cardiac team here performed true magic. They worked with teams in london and birmingham to plan every part of my op but really the decisions were left to me the paitent as to what i did or didnt want and that was just the best example of the nhs ever. I can never ever thank the cardiac team here enough for making sure that my life went on - they are true heroes and my family is forever grateful. It was the hardest time of my life but the team at the RSCH treated me with such care and kindness it left me with such respect for the job they do. Everyone from catering to the cleaners and the cardiac surgeon was so kind.
Renal department, transplant unit Excellent service they provide, constant care, doctors and nurses are so kind, helpful and understanding. If you have a medical problem you ring or email and they respond within the hour! Excellent team. The receptionist is so kind and caring and always has a smile. She also remembers your name!
Taking a turn for the worst on Xmas day with face swelling and headpain family took me to A &E at 6.30pm. Reception was efficient and hardly had time to sit down before being called for triage. Seen by Shiobham who was extremely pleasant and based on observations took me to cricatal care where treatment for sepsis was started immediately. Clearly short staff all were calm and engaging with tests, check ups, medication. Apologies for not knowing all the names of persons who treated me but you all were brilliant. Being well treated a big thanks to all and Shiobham, Becks and ENT Dr Johnathan who finally nailed my symptoms to sinitus. Thanks a million.
My family and I have received excellent care from various hospital departments over the years, staff somehow managing to keep the services running despite years of Conservative Party underfunding, having to risk their lives working during the pandemic with inadequate PPE and all the rest of it. God bless them all, and if you voted Tory, hang your head in shame.
Reception hasn’t worn masks the last two times I’ve been at Sussex House ANC. Each time eating, coughing etc. The first time I arrived they made me switch from my reusable washable mask to a hospital one so the second time I didn’t bring it. I grabbed one of the provided ones and sat down only to see that they’d let people wear that type of mask this time. I think she just wanted to see my face or something. There were a few issues with people writing things on forms that weren’t accurate or true. Not impressed and they need to be assessed.
just been with my wife yesterday at 11 am , severe back pain, painful arms and numbness, she couldn't move her fingers at all. been waiting around 7 hours to see a doctor and then took her for an MRI scan which result came on after 8 more hours. no pain relief all night long and sat on damn chair . with no disrespect but i think this is the most useless hospital i ever seen in my life. after almost 17 hours wait we still don't know what is the issue with my wife. interesting is it?
