Comfort Inn

Staff were great. Our children have a dairy allergy and they knew immediately at breakfast when I asked about the eggs (which were dairy free)! They also had biscuits and gravy! Rooms were clean (till my kids got in there) and the stay was great. Only complaint was I could hear the people above us, but they were quiet by 9:30, so no problems. Booking through choicehotels was a problem. They booked me for the wrong room and # of people. Called the hotel and they changed it without question. Truly a fantastic stay with great staff (and breakfast!).

This hotel was like a unicorn, in that it had features not normally observed in the wild, including: 1. a working exhaust fan in the bathroom 2. a clock in the pool area visible while in the pool 3. the bill was accurate and slid under the door with no attempt to fleece guests for another couple dollars via that disgusting "safe fee" 4. breakfast that was well stocked and the area attended to The breakfast included flavored as well as regular waffles, two sets of hot food, hard boiled eggs, multiple flavors of milk, both raisins and chocolate chips for toppings. I have an electric car and needed to plug in. There's one regular outlet in the side of the shed. Luckily I called ahead to confirm because the clerk at check in didn't know about any outlets. Although this stay stands out as quite positive, that is mostly because other hotels I have stayed at seemed to be stumbling over themselves. There was nothing wrong here, but nothing that should be out of the ordinary either. Just a stay without issues. The negatives were all minor - pool towels were out, there were no newspapers, etc. There were no extras - like cookies in the evening or any manager's reception. I found the rate to be expensive. It was cheaper than other properties in the greater Ames area, making it a relative value, but still overpriced in my view.

Very pleasant stay. Really nice breakfast! Comfy beds! -Wish there had been more sound proofing done in the pool area, it was deafening in there at times. But the pool water was clean and not too cold, so 5 stars from us :)

The staff at the Comfort Inn in Story City was great. They took care of everything for the birthday / pool party. Would definitely book one for my child.
