Up in the area for Christmas with family. ALWAYS need to come here for at least one meal. Atmosphere was great, service fantastic and food outstanding as always. Even though it was later than normal for us almost 8PM some had breakfast, others dinner and Me ?!?! Salad and Chili WHAT A COMBINATION . This place has enough of a selection to accommodate anyone with reasonable prices. The service is spot on and friendly, courteous staff. Locals know and live the place, if your traveling through Saint Charles Ill, Stop by. At least try the Kitchen Sink desert not this time for us but IS GREAT for sharing. Take care, be safe and stay healthy everyone. My you all receive the blessings you richly deserve.
If you are reading this review... please know... the cow thing... um... I am planning on seeing a doctor soon about it... but... THERE I WAS... driving down a city street with Breakfast on my mind... when suddenly I heard a cow going Mooo... and as I looked over... there were 3 of them looking at me and I suddenly smelled the Cinnamon Smell you get like from a Country Fair... So... I stopped... Once inside a Lovely Waitress showed me to my table... There was the Wonderful Smell of Breakfast in the air as I looked over the drink selection... The Coffee came first... Cream... Jelly... and before I knew it... MY ORDER HAD ARRIVED... Oh it looked FANTASTIC... And the TASTE... so SPOT ON... with that COUNTRY MORNING GOODNESS... Maybe the cows will call you too from the side of the road... And then you too will see... what a Country Fair Cinnamon Breakfast... tastes like...
What I liked best about this place is I’m doing a carnivore diet and I wanted nothing but the 5 egg omelette and meats in it. And they didn’t charge me for the meats since I didn’t get all the other stuff that comes with it. Excellent and now I’m going back the next 5 days while I’m in town! Great service, food and can’t go wrong going here.
Stopped in for something warm. I love the way my hot tea came. My friend and I ordered French onion soup. It came nice & hot but we both agreed that it should have less bread on top & more cheese. Seemed like it was a little bland & needed more seasoning. A great place for ice cream though. I've heard good things about the breakfast there also. Maybe I'll try that next time.
I've always liked Colonial, but our most recent visit to this location was surprisingly good. In a time when service seems dead, the service was friendly and quick enough. They post signs explaining they may be slower than usual due to staffing, like everywhere else, but do their absolute best to never let you notice. The food seemed even better than before. Great chicken strips and burgers, better than expected. I've always been so-so on the ice cream. It's fine, nothing bad to say, but other than the wonderful selection of items offered, there isn't anything amazing about the ice cream itself. Not a bad thing, just not stand out. However, with the great service and food, I highly recommend stopping here.
Always good! Friendly service. Pricing has gone up considerably, portions are smaller. I get that, but I can't justify patty melt, fries, drink and tip for $25 or $20 for cup of soup and 1/2 sandwich. Today was a very small waffle, 2 eggs and 2 bacon no drink for $15, with tip not sure $18 is a fair price. I don't mind paying top $ for food, I just think this is a little over the top for what you get. Still love Colonial, tho. Had the pumpkin pie. FYI it's notade there and just ok. Very small piece with a dot of whipped cream.
It's always a good experience when your waitress is amazing...and ours was! In a group of 6 I was the only one that had been to Colonial before so there was a lot of questions about dishes...we were there for the best deserts ever and we were not disappointed. From the kitchen sink which is definitely a dish to share to the dirt and worms sundaes and everything I between we were overwhelmed overfill and without a doubt over excited! The hand dipped ice creams were creamy and delicious and the creations that we had were amazing. Lots of fun was had by all and we will definitely stop again next time we are in St. Charles!!! Great service nice atmosphere and delicious Ice Cream!
It was our first time there. They had nice Christmas decorations giving it a warm ambience. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. I had the Reuben Sandwich with a side of Spudz, which was seasoned roasted potatoes. Both were very good, as was the Rum Punch. Kid-friendliness: They had a good kid's menu as well as crayons and coloring pages. Our granddaughter enjoyed it all.
We went there on Mother's day brunch. The staffs were very friendly and the food were delicious. Customers for life.
The food is spot on every time and it’s a family-friendly place with great servers too. Sometimes they don’t clear the table enough which is a minor thing they could work on, but the entree choices, the consistency of the food, time after time and the ice cream is so good. The avocado toast is really nice. They add a drizzle of balsamic so it’s like a mix between typical avocado toast and a caprese salad, very refreshing. The kids menu has great options. We like to do a mix, ordering a variety and letting them have a schmorgasboard. The chicken tenders are so good, fresh not from frozen like many diners. The shakes are lovely, the little kid sundaes like the dirt cup with gummy worms are a favorite. Personally, it’s the Kahuna Crunch that comes out in a cone stuffed with ice cream and drowned in chocolate sauce that’s a favorite to share as a family. Friday fish fry is great. The kids always also go crazy for the cow experience. They ALWAYS want to “visit the cow” and of course pose for pics. It’s part of the experience.
