I've never thought that I would have to write a negative review for a hospital but this experience has been our worst so far. We are from Germany and were here on a vacation. My boyfriend injuried his foot and it got infected, on Sunday we thought he might have blood poisoning so we rushed to the nearest hospital. He was in a lot of pain at that moment. After triage we sat in a very cold waiting room from 3 pm to 11 pm, when I went home to catch up on some sleep. When I came back the next morning 8 am, he had seen a doctor and was in waiting room 2. There he waited for 3 hours for an x-ray. I decided to ask what was going on and they admitted they had forgotten him. After the x-ray was done we waited for another 30 min and the doctor finally came back and gave him his prescription. We could leave the hospital at 11 am and had to rush to the hotel bc checkout was at 11. So to keep it short : we waited 20 hours, it was way cold and most of the staff was unfriendly he said the doctor was actually nice, but there was only one for 12 hours. This is unacceptable for an emergency room !
Good clean hospital with friendly staff yes wait times are a little extreme. But they are just short staffed is all another failure by Trudeau government. Maybe put another tv at the other end of waiting room and some vending machines would be nice.
don’t even waste your time; absolutely garbage. you will wait over 10 hours every single time for absolutely no reason. the building has more useless, half asleep, security guards than doctors and nurses. definitely worth driving to halifax or pictou.
Absolute worst hospital experience I've ever had and unfortunately I've had many. The triage nurse was super sweet, but the registration woman needs some serious people skills. She was horribly un pleasant. We waited for hours in the ambulance garage with no sign of anyone being called in. I had minor chest pain and couldn't keep even an ounce of water down and was so weak I couldn't sit up straights so I sat slumped in a wheel chair and forgotten about for hours holding a barf dish. Very undignified and inhumane and there were others much worse off than me also just left there with no idea if or when they would be seen. I decided, after many hours, I would rather die at home in my bed than be forgotten in a smelly ambulance bay, so my husband wheeled me out to the car. Still really sick, but at least I can lay down at home. This is not health care.
Nurses were fantastic. Samantha was very informative and willing to answer all the questions. And the deer grazing along side the driveway was peaceful
One of the worse ER you can go to. Please avoid gping there. It will be much better if you go to the hospital in halifax or dartmouth. We are waiting here for 7 hours. No one helped us. Noone tells you that how long you have to wait. We get bumped from our number like 3 times. And no service after that we just walk out because no one is telling us. How long do we have to wait.
The worst hospital in NS, I mean in Canada. The problems at this hospital start with the CEO. If you have a complaint about the hospital it takes several messages to be left, then only after the 3rd or 4 or 5 complaint do u get a call back, when you finally do get your call returned, it’s the CEO that calls, everything gets brushed under the mat so the neglect by this hospital and its staff doesn’t get out. There should be a 3rd party investigating such conduct. The wait times are horrendous, 99% you are misdiagnosed and symptoms are ignored and your health is neglected by the doctors. Waiting more than 12 hours for care is absurd. It’s a broken system walk-in clinics that are only open 17 hrs a week in Truro, sometimes they are so overwhelmed that you can’t be seen that week, resulting in people going to Emerg for UTI, ear infections etc is a catastrophic financial crisis on the health care system. The minister of health needs to be fired, the CEO of this hospital should be criminally charged, the doctors need to go to Ontario for training, nothing will ever change until the Federal Government steps in and makes these changes. This province is an embarrassment, there is more people dying in this province from misdiagnosis than any other province in the country. I have seen and heard parents neglecting to go to Emerg and seek medical care for their kids because of long wait times which in turn is neglect and abuse to the kids. This province is full of sick people and the problem lies with the lack of medical care available in this province. The federal government should intervene and investigate the provincial authority who is responsible for this catastrophic disaster they have caused.
I spent my weekend in the ER. It's slow, like absurdly slow. However, that is no fault of the facility but rather the system. So many people use the ER as a walk-in clinic since the only clinic in town is impossible to visit. The staff, however, are gold. The security guard took down my COVID questionnaire. He was friendly and comforting. The triage nurses were efficient and polite. I sat for 11 hours in a high level of pain and discomfort, and the nursing staff did all they could to help me. They joked with me to try to distract me, and constantly checked in to see if I needed anything. The facility is new, and clean. Once you are through triage, there are rooms for privacy and comfort, instead of just areas with curtains. That is such a privilege. The ER Resident was professional and explained everything to me thoroughly, even though I knew she was so stretched for time. My only complaint is the charge nurse on duty last night. She had poor bedside manner and barged in on a very private moment. Her nurses apologized profusely on her behalf, but she is in charge - she should be leading by example. Overall, I would give the facility a really good rating. They helped me out and for that I am thankful. I would really like to thank Robyn, Katelyn, and Morgan, as well as, Dr. Sommers.
Dr. Marshall and Rn Holly we’re great. These guys dealt with patient after patient for the whole time I was there. Give our practitioners the flowers they deserve. It’s not any one persons fault if you have to wait to receive service. Yea I waited to get stitched up, but I didn’t pay for sqat and you get what you pay for.
All I wanted to know was an estimation of the time I had left to wait. NO ONE could give me anything at all. Not even a hint. Was there for 6 hours and had to leave because no one told me anything. This happens every single time. I legit think I am gonna die here. Someone had a litteral concussion and someone had a broken leg and they wait hours as well. This is not okay at all.
