Restaurant was recommended by hotel staff across the street, however, nothing to write home about. Food is very pricey for small portions. Order was messed up despite being clarified multiple times upon placing it.
Great food as always but service a bit slow probably due to lunch time.Food: 5/5
After walking what felt like the entirety of St. John’s one morning, we decided to stop for a quick breakfast bite and a coffee. We opened up google maps and BAM! Coffee Matters was half a block away. With our last bit of energy we pushed through our exhaustion dramatic and came into a relaxed, cool, chill coffee house with locals, out province’rs?? And people from around the globe. Staff are friendly and attentive, food was perfectly portioned, and the cost was equal to what we’re used to spending in Toronto, aka ‘The Center of the Universe’… at least that’s what Torontonians think. All and all, great spot and we left energized and happy.
Great service and good products. Baked goods are all fresh and delicious, sometimes you can even get them still warm and steamy. I really like the coffee but some may find the medium roast a little weak though. Prices are fair at 2.90 for a large coffee. I dont know if you can buy the coffee to make at home but I hope you can!!
They have a delicious chicken/basil mayo sandwich! I love unique items that you can't get at other cafes! It's a signature item that sets them apart!
Gourmet drive thru food. Delicious, fast, & friendly. We went here on our 2nd Anniversary to reminisce. We met at the Coffee Matters in Mount Pearl in 2017, which sadly burnt down & later closed. Don't forget to ask for your receipt. We didn't get ours. Too bad, as this was the reason why we went there to get a souvenir for our Anniversary scrap book. Food is good, however a bit pricey. $34 for sandwich combo no drinks with pasta salad & a cookie. It included home made kettle chips.
Very good coffee, nice temperature of the latte. Quick friendly service.
5 stars for the food, 1 star for the staff. The woman making sandwiches complained, out loud, about every task and food order that came her way. It made the ordering experience uncomfortable and I was reluctant to ask for anything. Get new front staff!
I really wanted to love this place as it's local and close to where I live! However, I've given the drive-thru a few chances and every time it's incredibly slow, despite there being no line-up. I don't expect the same speed as a chain restaurant, but 5-minutes for a single, plain coffee is too long when nobody else is in drive-thru. Once I ordered 3 drinks and waited almost 15-minutes! Also haven't found staff to be very friendly, in drive-thru or inside three different staff.... Also had the soup once and it was very bland, not worth what I paid. The coffee is just okay, and the one speciality drink I had was good. I'm leaving this review in hopes that it encourages improvements in customer service and quality!
The hours for this business are never right - every time I go in there to sit for a coffee with friends I end up getting kicked out because it is closing. The website says closing at 4pm on Saturday but it is actually 3pm. I give up.
