COCO Cafe is a project of Cedar opportunities Co-operative. Our mission is to operate a successful social enterprise that provides employment, training, and socialization opportunities for people with developmental disabilities within their community. Cedar Opportunities Co-operative (COCO) was established in 2007 by families in the rural community of Cedar, all of whom shared a vision of full inclusion for their family members with developmental disabilities. In June 2011 COCO Café opened its doors as a realization of this concept. From its initial café operations, Cedar Opportunities Co-op has grown its services to offer a full catering, and a retail food department. We pride ourselves in continuing to grow the social aspect of our enterprise in the coming years. COCO continues to provide many permanent employment opportunities for our staff with developmental disabilities and looks forward to expanding opportunities in the future.
In 2014 COCO Cafe provided approximately 3300 hours of supported employment. With increased cafe business and catering operations in our community in 2015 our supported employment was increased to approximately 4400 hours. In 2016 we project increase of additional 25%, to 5500 hours by extending our operational hours to include dinner service and by continuing to grow our catering department.
