I can't believe I've lived in Renton for years and never eaten here before. Fried okra, collard greens, corn bread, potato salad, baked beans not pictured, ribs, brisket, pulled pork and sweet BBQ sauce with just a little kick but not too much that my wife can't enjoy it even though she can't do spicy food. We would seriously go back for even just the fried okra... Or any of meat. The pulled pork was so tender and delicious even without BBQ sauce. We had the sauce on the side - it was very tasty. Everything was great. If you want to feel sorry for your vegan friends, come here.
I ordered the rib tips, home fries, and hot links. My food was hot and very good. I love the smoke flavor in the ribs. One of the things I look for when trying a new BBQ place is can I smell the smoke from a block away. And Clyde's delivered. I will be returning!
As a former Southerner..THANK YOU GOD FOR THIS BBQ truck! Lawd Jesus I was not expecting BBQ this dang good here in Western Washington. Living in Mobile, AL, this place is right in line with Saucy Q's, Moe's, Brick Pit, and J. Rodgers. They definitely put their foot in it as you can taste the love they have for QUALITY BBQ. I got the $20 2-meat special pulled pork and brisket with potato salad, and cornbread and also ordered additonal sides of okra and peach cobbler. This will make 2..or even 3 meals for one person if you eat smaller portions. So the food taste review... The brisket was a good as you get. Great smoke flavor and as tender as you could ask..BUT the best part is there was a minimal amount of fat and the slices were varied from thick to thin. The pulled pork was mostly all meat and also minimal amount of fat.. AND more good news was that it didn't have those burnt end pieces that always ruins pulled pork when you taste that inedible piece of pork. Clyde's has done justice to pulled pork. The baked beans are pretty much Bush's Baked beans which is A-ok with me THe cornbread had a Jiffy corn muffin mix texture but was a lot more geared in taste towards older recipes of cornbread cooked in cast iron pans. The fried okra used a lemon fish fry batter similar to Zatarains or Louisiana brand fish fry...something I happen to love. The potato salad was mustard based but not that overbearing on celery, so it works. And the peach cobbler was among the best I have had in years.
This place never fails to deliver. Tonight tried the brisket. Cost me 50 dollars less than a close restaurant and was 300 times tastier. We got brisket from a place nearby with a 5 star rating and it was totally grey, tasted like roast beef and chicken burned with liquid smoke that was raw in the middle. Clyde's has never let us down. We love the people who are there and the food we take home.
The ribs,salad, and green beans with fire roasted red peppers was "I'd slap my momma" good. 04292020 look how friggin thick they cut the brisket, and the hot link is "Hot" but worth it. The beans are tast as hell. You have this Okie homesick
DO NOT get the Brisket sandwich! Its seems to be made up of all the fat scraps with very little lean meat. I was soo disappointed. Money is hard earned and for Clyde's to sell this is just not right! The potato salad is also horrible!
You will not regret going out of your way for this place. The BEST Southern BBQ in the area. It almost made me cry with nostalgia for my youth. It is that good. Plate dinners to die for...collards, corn bread & tater salad, among other options. I should've opted for the extra $ on fried okra. My only regret. Bless these folks for the food they make. I was comforted like I haven't been in awhile.
I always pass by Clyde’s and finally decided to grab a meal. The brisket was really good I’m looking forward to trying other items on the menu.
This should be a 4 or a 5 star we just never know when they will actually be open I love the portions I love the food it's just never a sure bet that they will be open when it says they should be.
Great BBQ in an easy access location. Fresh fried okra had well seasoned batter and good texture. Nice and crispy. The collard greens were nice and soft without being mushy. THE BRISKET, had a nice smoke ring and flavor. I got a couple burnt ends and good amount of fat. There was quite a bit of sauce so I wish I'd asked for less or on the side. The dinner also includes corn bread which was pretty basic. Not bad, not amazing. It wasn't dry at least like you get at some other places. If they had honey butter it would help. Sadly there was nowhere to sit McLendon parking lot but on the upside, my car smells amazing now.
