Friendly staff and delicious healthy food! If you're into comfort food they're got you covered as well : There is even a small bar on site with a decent selection of drinks. Def recommend the peanut butter chicken poke bowl
This was a small hole in the wall type place. It has a small menu but the two sushi rolls they had on the menu were amazing. Some of the best sushi I've had in a while. Nice atmosphere with a French hipster vibe. Overall would recommend as a nice spot for casual sushi.
I liked the display but the poke itself was okay. The quality could definitely be better for the price they charge17.25$. Also, the rice was too sticky.
Meh. I don't really like poke, too much like salad. There's also mango in everything... Also, pretty expensive. $16.50 for the bowl in the picture pokebowl c
Ordered a roll of each type of sushi on the menu and all were exquisite. The receipts were thought out, write in contrast to ones typical sushi joint. As to that the very decent prices, generous portions and a squeaky clean kitchen for all to see and.. Well you get the picture. I am fond of this place.
The poke here was good, but they could tweak them and make them great. I had the spicy salmon and mango which came with far too much radish and edamame. My dining companion had the tuna, which came with a rainbow of colours and looked amazing, it also tasted amazing but they over did it with the sauce which rendered it a bit too soggy, especially towards the end of the bowl. We'll probably try again in a few months when they're a bit more bedded in.
Tastes alright for rolls although it's of course a westernized version, which is fine but definitely overpriced for what you get. Soup that comes with the combo is not worth trying/paying extra. It has really weird taste. It looks like miso soup, but it is not, even if they believe it is. It's weirdly sweet. Would I go back? I don't think so. There are definitely better places to go to. Other reviews mention the customer service being great, but it was just a regular normal customer service. When I wanted to pay, the waiter guy was too into texting or something on his cell phone, which wasn't particularly impressive. Also, they have a weird pronunciation of a Japanese word that they mentioned from the menu, so they might need to learn how to say it correctly because my Japanese friend who went with me didn't get it even after asking to repeat a few times. Almost suspicious reviews. I just cannot believe it.
Best poke i've tried in the city! Staff is super friendly and sweet, always asking me if I want a glass of water while I wait for my takeout. Plus, I really love the loyalty card!
It’s okay. I definitely feel like there’s space for improvement in terms of variety and quality. There are only three types of poke ball, and none of them include wakame! Which is a huge bummer. In terms of price, you’ll pay $17.25 and get a nice quantity of food, but nothing that will make you full in case you are super hungry. Oh, and they should definitely work on their guacamole. Entire experience let’s leave it at 6/10. The place has potential but still not one of the best out there.
There was good & then there ehh okay, then there was terrible. We came here drawn by the ambience and chic decor of the building. The sushi roll i ordered was good full of flavor. But the rice in it and in the plate we ordered was too pasty and incorrectly cooked. I am Very surprised that most reviews of the poke rice was positive. But there was a couple reviews that confirmed the same thing i experienced and thought of the food. So good to know im not alone in this!! This is a good thing meaning the restaurant is at least putting the same food out for all customers with the same reliable taste. What was "ehh" - Miso soup was weird but bearable. Not the conventional miso soup. There was no tofu or seaweed in it & I tasted only sweetness & sugar which is unlike any misosoup Ive ever tasted. Reading past comments from the restaurant, i appreciate club soya doing their own unique thing & adding maple syrup into this soup- but i would *Not recommend it to anyone. Those who know the rich taste of miso will be extremely disappointed. My honest opinion: Soup was ehh okay to bad. sweet was the only flavor we could taste but we didnt complain since soups come in different variations and is hard to mess up. Miso soup can have potential if club soya added enough miso for ppl to taste it. Service: Waitress was a young lady- attentive & friendly but not professional. She was on some skype live cam call the majority of our time there. BUT was attentive enough to notice we were dissappointed in the food. Here is the terrible: the rice.. We complained about the rice. I am chinese and my friend is half Japanese so we grew up making rice and are very familiar with all kinds of rice... which includes sushi rice. Japanese food, including Sushi is 50%+ based on the rice used. Club soya did not meet expectations of good sushi rice. The rice was very "pasty", not "sticky & fluffy" like fresh sushi rice is suppose to be. So it was hard to break apart rice grains from one another. The rice came on a plate like a snoball squeezed together like playdough. And the consistency was almost like pasty pasty dough. correctly cooked sushi rice should be fluffy and sticky, grains should be easy to break apart no matter the type of rice I spoke with the waitress and we tried to find the problem with the rice. She told me they put a little vinegar in the rice which is normal to do for sushi rice and my friend suggested maybe too much vinegar. But that didnt make sense because then we would be able to taste the vinegar. Later after we left my friend and i talked & tried to make sense of it.. we came to the conclusion that rice only looks/taste/feel like that when 1 It is undercooked and they didnt rinse it enough OR 2 they put too much water in it when they cooked the rice. From experienced we both had incorrectly cooked rice @some point in life and it turned out similar lol Im from Alberta and my friend is a new yorker soooo we won't be in Montréal for long! But i would love to ask club soya what Brand of Sushi rice are they using... and what is the Water to Rice ratio they are using when making the rice?? All in all i was terribly dissapointed at the food here bc of the rice and soup. I think people familiar with Japanese food know how impotant rice is to the meal.. if the rice is fixed, 99% of the food complaints might be too im pretty sure. This is just my honest opinion. I do not mean to sound harsh or "mean". I took a lot of time to write this honest review. I hope the restaurant and other people can appreciate and take it to consideration too.
