Loved this camp site. We were in spot #3. It was roomy and could fit more than one tent. Our spot was only a five minute walk from clackamas lake. Surprisingly not a lot of mosquitoes.

Pros - A good spot to camp for trips to Timothy Lake on the busy weekends, especially if the main lake is booked up. Cons - If privacy, peace, and quiet are what you look for on a camping trip - this is not the place for you. The spaces are too far crowded in, and you should expect to lose plenty of sleep due to campers dogs, kids, and a general lack of respect for their neighbors. Felt like staying in a trailer-park really.. (P.S. Gobs of mosquitoes, as Clackamas Lake is more a Marsh than a lake. Come prepared.)

A basic campground featuring tent, RV, and equestrian sites. The "lake" isn't anything special, and mostly marsh land but the campground is less than 5 miles from Timothy Lake which is great for fishing & swimming.

This is a cool little campground that seems to never get that busy. We easily reserved a spot on a weekend in July. It's close to Timothy lake, so I guess there is way better lake for fishing which might explain the quietness. The lake is small, there is only one path to the water and and no real beach for swimming. We enjoyed it nonetheless- we had our river tubes and enjoyed floating in a quiet and idyllic marshy setting. Water was freezing so I am guessing it is fed by an underground ice melt fed spring!

For those wondering or using navigation, the Clackamas Lake Campground is not located near Rhododendron; it is actually another ~15 miles to the Southeast on the SE side of Timothy Lake. To get there from the incorrect location, head east on 26 past Timberline Lodge until you hit the NF-42/Skyline Rd turn off on the right. You will stay on Skyline all the way to Clackamas Lake Campground; you will begin to see signs when you get within a mile or so.
