I have visited this location many times as well as other locations of Visage. Although the staff is very friendly, I had a horrible laser treatment experience. Initially, everything was fine with my facial, lower abdominal, around-the-belly button, and inner thigh laser treatments. However, after the second treatment, I developed very noticeable dark spots on my lower abdominal area and inner thighs. I was assured that these spots would fade away in a couple of months, but they didn't. I stopped getting laser treatments in those areas, but the darkness persisted for months.nnThe technician I won't name her unless asked who performed the treatment took a picture of the affected areas and told me she would obtain a prescription for a cream to treat the dark spots. It took months for them to inform me about the cream and the pharmacy where the prescription was sent. I had to pay for the cream out of pocket, and it didn't help at all. Now, I have dark spots on my body that resemble surgical scars. I was trying to improve my appearance, but now it looks worse.nnAdditionally, the laser treatment on my face had the opposite effect; I have more hair on my face than before. I've had laser treatments before, but this was the worst experience, leaving me with dark scars. Despite the professional appearance of this location, all my experiences here were terrible. Stay away from this place if you want your money to be well spent.nnPs. I am trying to contact them to resolve the issue, but no one even replies to me. This shows how little they care about your health. I am sorry for those businesses that only care about money. They will eventually lose.
I don't usually leave good reviews, often more inclined to leave a bad one so no one else has a similar negative experience. However, this is a great place to go for drop-ins, very accommodating, beautiful lots of services to offer, and very friendly/welcoming staff. Brooke also did a great job on my hair, I don't usually let just anyone cut my hair, but I was desperate, and I was surprisingly pleased with the outcome! Also, very reasonable pricing!
Very disturbed by the recent events that occurred with this place of business. My stylist decided to leave and move on from this establishment. City Looks had a different approach. They fired her before her last day…by text message.nnUpon letting her go, City Looks started to contact HER clients and advised she was no longer with City Looks and that we could rebook me with someone else at a discount rate. I was absolutely disgusted.nnFor starters, I am NOT a City Looks client. I attended City Looks because of who did my hair. I am HER client. I travelled to City Looks when she decided to move, because of HER. Trying to poach me, in the way you did, speaks volumes about how you treat your workers, who just happen to be women.nnI have NEVER seen behaviour like this from a company. I have moved with my hair stylist a couple times to different places and have never had a company try to poach clients. It’s pretty deplorable behaviour. I think we all saw what happened with Covid - how this industry took such a hit. Meaning women took a hit. To try and take her clients, which is essentially her paycheque, in the way you did, screams BULLY. Along with unprofessional, unacceptable, dreadful, appalling …the list goes on.
I have gone myself and they were okay and that’s why I will give this place a one star. But today my brother went to get a hair cut, a simple haircut. Asking for a trim with LOTS of length because he had beautiful curls, but nope. The hair dresser decided to basically give a buzz cut and he cried the entire way home and the rest of the day. If you have long hair this place is fine, but do not go for short hair unless you want a buzz cut
Maybe I should share my story first. I lost my hair after a case of the chicken pox when I was five and have had alopecia universalis ever since. From that young age till about seven years ago, I regularly visited a lovely woman with a small wig business, who I saw about my hair and hat needs. I felt safe with her; partly because she had hair loss like me and we would play around, laughing together with the hats and wigs; partly because she was patient and let me take my time in choosing things; and partly because I felt beautiful when I was with her. At six, I was the envy of my friends, paid to model for the wig store’s website. However, some time passed during which I had no need of her services.nnSoon enough, it became plain that I needed a new wig …or two. So off I went to the old store front. What?! Closed! I checked on-line… Nothing. Old email contacts… Dead end. Now I was terrified. I had never had to deal with anyone else! Though I am a fairly confident twenty- three-year-old, my lack of hair is still an area that brings huge self-consciousness for me. So, rather than try something new, I avoided going to a hair salon at all - like some avoid the dentist. However, finally, with my university graduation looming, a study trip to Panama close behind, a wig that was getting desperately ragged, and coming close to the end of my parent’s medical coverage, I began the terrifying search.nnWho does one dare trust with such a sensitive issue? Through my tears, I found City Looks online. They advertised privacy; that was a relief. Knowledgeable staff; excellent. Free first consultation; whew! I mean, what could I lose, right? I chose a consultant from the list each had a personal bio and made my appointment.nnWhen I arrived, I was treated kindly, with respect and confidentiality. I was shown to a private area of the building with various wigs in many styles, away from the regular hairstyling clients. I felt hopeful. In this area I was brought further, to a more private room which was pleasant and calm. Deb came in with her engaging personality and dove right in. Cindy remained in the area with all the wigs, efficiently and cheerfully bringing Deb the items she asked for. Though I never felt pressed either for time or decision making, Deb poured information out like water. She talked about scalp care, wig care, differing caps and helpful tricks and styling tips. She had a practiced eye and brought me colours and styles that would suit me. She was right every time. I tried on wig after wig. We began to narrow things down. It was delightful! She knew when to joke. She knew when to be empathetic. She understood my heightened sensitivity and need for comfort, so she brought me only items that would feel best. She knew when to leave me alone with my mom to talk. Finally, we had a list of three wigs that I really loved and felt beautiful in, but there was no pressure to purchase. Wigs are expensive and we were encouraged to go home and think about it.nnThe next day I called to order two of the wigs. They arrived in a little over a week. Deb and Cindy made time for my fitting to do any styling/cutting needed, to be sure they were ready for my graduation. I was so grateful for their efforts, remember, I had procrastinated! I went home with products to care for each of the wigs and the education to do it well.nnBut further, Deb kept good records. My family knew there was still one wig that I had my eye on. They hoped that if they went to City Looks, they might get it to surprise me for my graduation. Cindy found it easily and my family bought it then.nnI know this story has been rather long! But it was such a wonderful experience in so many ways! If you have also experienced hair loss for any reason, please take courage and check out City Looks for yourself. While you’re there, give Deb and Cindy a big smile from me. Tell them Naomi sent you.
