I went to this Cineplex very excited to watch “ A Minecraft Movie”. At first I was not planning to watch this film but after seeing all the hype online I decided it would be worth while - boy was I mistaken.nnWhen we first got to the auditorium, there was a brigade of staff blocking entrance - requesting to check your tickets and search you/your belongings. A little over the top, delaying our viewing of previews but okay.nnThen before the movie begins, the manager comes on stage and gives a speech basically saying if you utter the words “Chicken Jockey” you will be kicked out with no refund.nnThe manager’s entire speech was in French despite this being a movie in English which made no sense. I am here visiting and had to have this translated to me.nnWhen the movie started, they had multiple staff watching the audience the entire time. Then closer to the infamous “Chicken Jockey” scene about 7 minutes before, around 6 staff stood up in the aisles of the theatre ready with flashlights.nnOne of the staff was positioned directly in front of me and starting at me, blocking my entire view of the screen. I motioned at him with my hands to move, he ended up just mocking the action back to me. He then sat down on aisle for about 1 minute this is a fire safety violation btw, basically blocking me in to my seat, before standing back up.nnAs a result of the staff blocking my view I lost track as to what was happening in the movie! I had strategically went to the bathroom before the show so I could see it in its entirety, just to be interrupted by these inconsiderate staff.nnFinally when the “Chicken Jockey” scene happened, nobody reacted. However despite this lack of reaction all Staff took it upon themselves to shine flashlights in audience’s faces rude & inconsiderate to those who suffer from sensory overload. They started shouting in English this time excusing patrons of being on their phones.nnAfter what seemed like an eternity, they finally left but at that point I was very shook up and had completely lost the story of the film.nnIf cineplex wanted to do make the theatre an authoritarian style viewing experience, they should’ve warned fans in advance who did not want to be subjected to this and we’ll happily support another cinema.nnAdditionally Cineplex should’ve reserved seats for the security to stand instead of blocking patrons. But no! Instead they prioritize corporate greed and selling out the theatre as it was when we went, instead of fans viewing experience.nnAfter the film, I attempted to track down a manager to request a refund but they were unavailable, probably harassing the guest for the next showing. I was told to instead call the cineplex customer service.nnThey customer service wasn’t helpful and didn’t even understand what had happened, suspecting it was an issue with patrons, not staff.nnSupport told me that they would open a case and look into instead of just refunding me on the spot like they had times prior basically doubting the experience I had described. I have been a loyal cinéclub club member since they launched the program 3+ years ago, poured 1000s of dollars into them over the years and yet loyalty means nothing to this brand.nnSuper disappointing. Not sure if it’s just this particular location or an overall change in Cineplex’s structure over the years but something needs to change.
It’s a good cinema, but my friend had a rather weird experience. We were going to see the movie The Monkey, and I payed my tickets at the machines while she went at the counter she preferred that I guess? I had no issue with the machine. But at the counter, I heard her ask for a ticket for The Monkey movie, and they gave her a ticket for a totally different movie ?? Also one of the staff at the food counter didn’t speak French and she told us she didn’t know how to count the money we gave her and that was a bit strange the candies are really expensive but yeah, overall good experience with the movie.
This is the 4th time going to this cinema, the customer service was great and the theatre display screen was mind blowing .nUsually busy on the weekends. Didn’t have to wait in line to get snacks as I went earlier than the movie start time.nIf you’re unable to purchase the tickets online, you can buy it there at the cinema but note that there might be limited seat choices.
This place lowkey slaps. Not Ghetto like the Atwater theatre and the popcorn is peak. Pro Tip: If you think you have finally taken the last escalator… you haven’t.
What a mess! Such a horribly disorganized movie theater! Management must be asleep at the wheel, as we have to wait forever online to buy overpriced popcorn and candy. This is unacceptable given the hefty price tag. It makes one wonder why we go to the movies anymore!
