I enjoyed their tofu skewers, cabbages and house special clear noodle in sauce. Hubby liked the chicken and lamb skewers, but he was getting sick of the same taste after few more bites. They use the same spices so all things do taste the same. I would suggest anyone stay away from the bbq sausage and grilled beef steak. Sausage is actualky hot dog and the grilled beef steak is.... grilled hamburger patties. No joke! Three patties cost $10.99 and they tasted bad. *** Take-out: I hope they can use a different container for the house special clear noodle because the sauce always spills out. My second time ordering this as a take-out and the sauce spills out again.
One of the best Chinese food in Ottawa. More dishes from the northern region of China compared to other Chinese restaurants whose menu is from southern China guangzhou style. The dishes are made quickly and tastes wonderful although a little salty so I would recommend getting a bowl of rice and some tea.
The BBQ meat on a stick was decent but everything kinda tastes the same since they use the same spicy / sauce for everything. We only ordered one none bbq dish the pancake, it tasted kind of overcooked and wasn't tasty.
Pretty accurately to food I had in China. I would suggest dining in rather than take out which is what I did. You probably have to eat the food fresh in order to truly appreciate it. Nice restaurant overall. The speed was pretty good too. The price is a little more expensive but it's something different that we don't normally have in this city. The food wasn't entirely mind blowing.. Kind of average. But great if you want to try something different.
Skewers are quite good and food came out fast. Service was good as well. No alcohol license yet but takes card which is a plus. Will return again and try other dishes.
Chinese Dragon BBQ is located in the same strip mall as Food Basics along Merivale, next to a noodle shop I'd previously reviewed. They're owned by the same people and often move food between the two shops. Chinese Dragon BBQ is the larger of the two siblings, being able to accommodate not only 4 times the amount of people but also a larger menu, featuring - you guessed it - Chinese not dragon BBQ. It also has more traditional Northern Chinese stir-frys and hot pots. Many of the options are spicier than the run-of-the-mill Chinese food which is more of the Southern Chinese variety but just as good. We've been twice now, once for the BBQ and the second time for the stir-frys and hot pot. The BBQ items, which come skewered, were a bit pricey, about $3+ per, and salty. Thus the second time, we focused mainly on the other items. We bought the Soft-Shelled Crab Fried Rice and a fish hot pot that didn't have an English name associated with it. They were reasonably priced and tasty. However, all of the food we ordered seem to be very greasy. My favourite was the fried rice. The seasoning was perfect with a good amount of "wok-air" but as soon as it cooled down, you could taste and see the amount of oil there. Similarly, a thick layer of oil could be found in the hot pot, which isn't terrible when hot but doesn't make you feel great afterwards. The service is, for the most part, attentive, making sure your water is filled and that you have everything you need. They come to check on you quite often but sometimes, you'll have to put in some effort to flag them down, especially if you're seated in a inconspicuous spot you choose your own seats if it's not too busy. If you're looking to experience a different kind of Chinese food, it's worth a shot - we'll probably be back too since they carry dishes that few other restaurants have. It may not be the best idea for your health to go often though...
A great place for friends gathering or family dining out. Authentic Chinese bbq food, lamb skewers and bbq wings skewers are my favorite. You smell bbq in the whole place. Service is good, little slow, but I guess because it takes time to bbq. Parking outside, plenty parking spots.
They accept cash, credit card and debit card. Food is ok, service was quick and friendly. However, it's not a restaurant for family with younger children. Don't trust the English menu especially if you have food allergy. I ordered G3 noodles w/ soya sauce. The dish came with fried egg on top but we can't eat eggs. Almost everything is spicy!
The food was awesome. Both me and my girlfriend were really pleased with the food. This is definitely the best Chinese BBQ in town. I’m loving those dishes, taste so good!
Good experience overall. Some of the item price is a bit higher than quantity given. I ordered 1 hot dish, 1 cold dish and 7 BBQ all shown in pic, total $100 for 2 people. Friend think they added too much suger into the BBQ but I find it pretty good cz sugar covors the spiciness. Tastes is decent. I like this place. This is def the best Chinese BBQ in Ottawa
