Marcus is an exceptional restaurant. It has earned - and held - a reputation as one of Montreal's trendiest spots since its opening in 2019. While it is the place to be seen - especially on a weekend night in the summer - the real attention grabbers are the high level of service and the unassailable food. The service during my most recent visit was perhaps the best I've ever received. Nicolas was knowledgeable, charming, efficient, aware and always available. My party of six had two teens and he spent as much, if not more, explaining the menu to them and answering their questions. I've always appreciated staff who are kind and considerate with kids. Restaurants - especially ones attached to a luxury hotel like the Four Seasons - often have trouble living up to the hype. But Marcus - a Marcus Samuelsson institution - does not wilt under the spotlight. Flavours dance and dishes sing. Every forkful was exquisite. Mind you, it's not going to be a cheap night out but the quality of the food is evident. Everyone at the table - some with significantly more experienced palettes than my own - was completely, deliriously satisfied.
Amazing ambiance, lovely interior design, waiter was very professional and pleasant. We had originally booked at the lounge but felt it was a bit loud and requested to be seated in the restaurant. They were flexible and seated us at the chef’s counter. It was quite entertaining. The bathrooms are really nice. Also, the fries are sooo good. The only negative was the cauliflower. It had a layer of seasoning and flavour on the top but the rest of the cauliflower was a bit bland. Would come again for the experience and the service.
We had a reservation for brunch at 10h, didn't get seated until 10h20 because they gave our reserved table away to a couple before us who did not have a reservation. We were not the only people this happened to. It took at least 10 minutes to even get a waiter to get us water. The decor and food prices would suggest that their ingredients would be of quality and that the plates would be spectacular. Instead, we got a very cold meal 45 minutes after ordering. My girlfriend's lobster omelette was cold, barely tasted of lobster, and was incredibly small for the price. My Benedict was the smallest, saddest Benedict I have ever seen. On top of it, the ham was grey and the food was just flavorless I don't even think they use salt. The best part of my meal was the wine which they didn't make and the bathrooms which are the hotel's. The staff is nice, but it does not compensate enough for the horrible time you will have there. Do not go, and avoid at all cost. Overpriced, bland, and a general bad experience. I rarely give bad reviews but this restaurant really deserves it.
The food was delicious, the decor was modern and green, and the service was impeccable! For food, we were a part of three and split a shrimp cocktail $28 for 3, and then I had the fried chicken sandwich with truffle fries. My guests had the chicken with wedge salad, and the eggplant. For decor, walking into the area felt like passing through an art museum. Upon arriving at the restaurant, the tables were all beautiful and had personality, plants were thriving everywhere you looked, and there was a great view of the kitchen and staff from wherever you were sat. They have a semi-patio as well which had all the benefits of feeling like you’re outside, with none of the disturbances of wind or extreme heat. For service, we were greeted quickly upon arrival, and were given options of either patio or interior with our reservation. Our server was attentive and friendly, indulging in our bilingual ways of talking, and ensuring we were well taken care of from start to finish. The only reason I marked 4 stars instead of 5 is because in terms of menu diversity, the only non seafood option on the Table d’Hôte menu was a vegetarian meal even the chicken option had anchovies in it, or an upcharge option for steak. As well, the prices were high and the portions small compared to what I’ve been used to at other high end restaurants.
One of my parents favourite place to eat. This was my first time trying them out. Love the building and the decor, food was good the only thing I didn’t really enjoy was the burger. The dessert was really tasty. Nice fancy experience
Thank you nick for being an amazing waiter Thank you to all the staff because I did not see anyone stop moving. I had an amazing time at my cousins birthday dinner. Beautiful restaurant with a decent amount of space for privacy, very comfortable, good food, prices aren’t to bad… only flaw was that they don’t take debitother then that I’m full and I’m happy.
Celebrated a girlfriend’s bachelorette at Marcus and can’t express how thankful we are for Bryan and the rest of the staff. They made our evening so special, and definitely an evening we won’t forget. The food was incredible, the service was first class and the atmosphere was amazing. We’ll be back!
If you want to spoil yourself with a cute brunch, Marcus is the place. I got the lobster omelette accompanied with natural orange juice and loved it. Take into consideration portions are on the smaller side and prices on the higher end. Worth it though. Ps. The women’s washroom has the most beautiful decor and its perfect for pictures.
It’s a beautiful location and the restaurant decor is fantastic. The service was impeccable as well. I went there for brunch, ordered eggs Benedict with crab and a mocktail that had an egg white in it recommended by our waitress , the food was good but I got a food poisoning after I believe from raw eggs and since it’s salmonella bacteria and I am breastfeeding it also affected my infant, so ended up in the emergency..
This is a very beautiful and sophisticated high end place, ideal for dates, business dinners or an evening with friends. The waitstaff are friendly and attentive. Our meal was paced to perfection. Each dish and drink is presented thoughtfully and artistically. Overall, I would recommend Marcus to anyone looking for a fine dining experience.
