A very solid Korean Chinese restaurant nestled in a quiet part of Richmond hill. All items ordered were good. It had flavours of a home cooked meal. The noodles have great texture. The jjamppong was probably my favourite. The space is extremely clean and the service was excellent.Food: 4/5
update: I still like this place but jjajang sauce is too salty I hope they reduce the sodium level... The name means metal bag which they deliver Chinese Korean dishes in Korea. Personally I love JJajangmyeon and tang soo yuk so we ordered it. I think the taste is very close to Korean restaurants. Unfortunately I forgot to ask to have tangsooyuk sauce on the side so I can keep it crispy. I had to to turn my wheels last time because parking lot was full, yes very few parking lots but I've noticed they have more parkings at behind the building so keep in mind if you can't find a space.
Newly opened at the start of April, I finally got to try Richmond Hill's newest Korean-Chinese restaurant located on Yonge Street across from the Performing Arts Centre. The space is a good size and very clean. The staff were very friendly and when my family stopped by for Dinner on a Sunday night, the restaurant was full of other families as well. What we got: Combo A which included: - JjaJang Myun Black Bean noodles - Jjampong Spicy Seafood noodles - Tangsuyuk Sweet and Sour Crispy Pork My Favs: - The tangsuyuk was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I only have one other place downtown where I like their tangsuyuk so it's nice to have a place uptown when the craving hits! I'd order the sauce on the side so the pork doesn't get soggy at the bottom. Final thoughts: The Jjampong here isn't very spicy perfect for me who can't take too much spice, but I think it's a good base level then there are condiments at the table to adjust if you like yours spicier. The Jjajang Myun was on the sweeter side so it was lighter and not as savory. There wasn't a lot of meat in the Jjajang sauce though. Pretty satisfied with our meal, but as the restaurant is still fairly new I'd return after a few more months to see if there are any changes to the quality and service. Parking: Small plaza and lot, we parked across the street at the Performing Arts Centre and walked over.
! Food was super delicious and tasty! Had an authentic taste as if I was eating in Korea! Service was friendly and atmosphere/restaurant was clean. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this restaurant if you're craving Chinese style-Korean food and you're in the Richmond Hill/GTA area! What I ordered: • TANGSUYOUK - Beijing style - Fried pork with sweet and sour sauce and vegetables • JJAMPPONG - Noodles in spicy seafood soup and vegetables
The food was amazing. Their Jjamppong has a nice smokey taste. The broth is very light and doesn't feel heavy when you eat it. Great amount of seafood in it too. They make their own homemade radish kimichi which is really good. Fried rice was very tasty. Worth coming out to support this local restaurant. Friendly people as well.Food: 5/5
This restaurant is unassuming from the outside, but we decided to try it, because it is so convenient to the Richmond Hill Performing Arts Center. I’m glad we did. Inside, the restaurant decor is simple yet elegant. Food is delicious.
Updated: I will give this place a 4/5 overall. Their jjamppong is definitely my favorite and will absolutely go back for more. ——————- 1st time - Takeout This is a newly opened Korean/Chinese restaurant which I came across on my way home one day. Upon reviewing other's google review, their Jjamppong caught my eye as I have been in search for a good jjamppong around RH area. This place definitely has it! The only item I ordered was their regular jjamppong for takeout. I will give it 4.5/5. The soup was so delicious, clean and full of seafood flavor. The broth was flavorful but not salty, spice level was perfect, well balanced and not overpowering. The noodles were soft but may be a bit too soft to my liking, it may have gotten a bit overcooked because it's takeout. I will definitely be revisiting again to get the dine-in experience. Overall, great first experience and will definitely recommend if you are looking for a bowl of soul warming jjamppong. ——————————— 2nd time - dine in I went for lunch with my family, had their jjamppong, jjajangmyun, tangsuyouk and fried dumplings. Jjamppong 5/5 - still best jjamppong i’ve had so far around this area. Jjajangmyun 4/5 - I was never a fan of jjajangmyun, most places are either too salty, too sweet or sauce is too thick. This place I find the noodles texture was great, the sauce not overly thick, nor too sweet but may be a bit lack of umami but not bad. Tangsuyouk, Beijing style, 4/5 - was good, the quality of meat is above average, not over marinated and as you can taste the sweetness of the meat. Good quality and balanced flavor. Fried dumplings 3.5/5 - taste of the dumplings are not bad but I find the fillings a bit too lose, would have preferred a bit more filling.
I found this new restaurant in Google by chance and read all the 5 stars reviews, then rushed to here. Cuz I thought “wow finally Korean Chinese restaurant in Richmond Hill”!!. The restaurant is literally NEW, so it was definitely clean and l like their interior, plate. The servers are friendly for sure. However, for the food, I guess my expectations were too high..hm… well. I ordered , and . came first and was served when was almost cleared . So I watched my husband eating, and he also watched me eating later. Their food portion was small compared to other restaurants, and was not that bad, but noodles were very salty for us. I poured one cup of water in my for blending.. Still salty though. Everyone’s tastes are different so there is no right answer. Honestly, I’d rather go drive 20-30 mins through the crazy busy North York area for the delicious food.
I'm very glad that a delicious korean-chinese fusion restaurant came in near my home. The food is tasty, and you can tell the owner and chef put a lot of care into the ingredients and the dish as a whole. This place also has one of the best, chewiest noodles I've ever had at restaurants like this one. I tried both types of fried pork, one with a soy sauce base which is less sweet, and one with fruits which is more sweet. They are both very delicious. Recently, I tried their new menu item chili shrimp. They were doing a social media promotion for it at a good price. Overall, I definitely recommend this place :
We ordered 2 combo A’s for takeout and got the Beijing style tangsuyouk. I wasn’t sure whether it’d be enough for our family of 5 but it was more than enough, we even had a bit leftover! I also really appreciated their service… they were very friendly and even wrote thank you messages on each of the takeout containers which was sweet. Jajangmyeon - 5/5 This was my first time trying it fresh so I have nothing to compare it to other than the instant black bean noodles… but it definitely hit the spot and my family agreed. I’ve read some reviews previously that mentioned it being too sweet/too salty but it was perfect! Tangsuyouk - 4/5 I think it woulda been better if we dined in, because by the time we got home it wasn’t as crispy but it was still yummy. My boyfriend really enjoyed it. Jjamppong - 4/5 This was solid too. It’s definitely spicy, so if you have a low spice tolerance it might not be for you. Mine isn’t very high, but it was more than tolerable AND I didn’t get heartburn which means it wasn’t that bad. The noodles were firm and thick which we loved. This spot is a hidden gem in Richmond Hill, I highly recommend giving it a try!
