Enjoyed my Waygu burger & rosemary truffle fries as well as a tasting of local bourbon. Service was efficient and I really liked the atmosphere. Nitpicks: - the burger was initially brought out with chips instead of the rosemary truffle fries I ordered but they fixed it quickly. - Whiskey tastings are basically by distillery, it would be more interesting to have tastings that mix distillery options to compare. - the blood orange cocktail was good but a little off balance for me. A little more sweetness would offset the tart flavor a bit better I think.
First off, let me say how CLEAN this place was. I was very impressed by that and the cozy atmosphere immediately upon entering the establishment. No wait time, friendly staff, and lots of seating options. I got the lobster roll and my husband got the steak frites- we both took some home! Great portion sizes for the price. Everything was absolutely delicious. We will be back! Parking: Nice, spacious parking lot
Love this place! Super fresh and YUMMY food. I've been many many times and they have a fantastic char cheese in their macs and on their sandwiches. For appetizers I recommend the pretzels and Buffalo Cauliflower. I really like the berry salad but have also tried the Mac and cheese and burger, have never been disappointed!
Food was delicious. I enjoyed the menu selection. They have a build your own bloody Mary that could be accented with items as high tier as lobster. Only wish they had a kids menu, the portions of items even split in half was a bit more than we needed for them.
Enjoyed the nice weather on their small patio. Server was attentive and knowledgeable. The whipped goat cheese app was delicious. The duck was well prepared. It was a lovely evening out. Nice atmosphere and friendly server. Lunch with mom and sisters. We decided to share. shared appetizers, salad, corn bread, pretzel, and burger. Tasty parked directly in front on street and easy access to front door.Food: 5/5
I wasn't sure what to expect with Char. I had visited Sweet Melissa's in the same spot over the years with good results, but Char was an unknown to me. Frankly, I wish I had found it sooner. This unassuming restaurant in the heart of Rocky River is emblematic of why Cleveland is now a Top 10 foodie destination in America. Char can be held up against any top restaurant in New York or LA and easily hold its own. The craft cocktails we ordered were simply perfect. The So Bright and Pink and the Hey Jealousy were worth a second round. It will take numerous repeat visits to work our way through all of the cocktails we wanted to try, let alone all the high-end whiskey offerings. The food was out-of-this-world good. The special Anti Pasta Salad was literally the best anti pasta salad I've ever had. Ever. I found myself craving it again the next day. The only thing I was upset with was that I hadn't heard about Char before stumbling on it. But then again, I was able to walk in and get a table on a Saturday night. As soon as the word gets out how great Char is, it'll probably require advanced planning and a reservation.
I was driving when I spotted yonder downtown Rocky River so I stopped for lunch. Some great highlights 300+ whiskeys, locally sourced angus , and vegan options. The climate of this eatery is as enjoyable as the menu items. Pretty good service. For my meal I ordered the drunken mussels starter and also the lobster rolls with chips. Everything was extremely pleasant, can’t wait to return.
Great place, great service, great whiskey selection, great food. Now I have 1 thing... I believe... And I'm pretty sure the lobster rolls... Are not all "lobster." There's a lot of langostino in one of them. Which "is" technically a lobster. There's also some filler in the other one. But when you see MP on a menu you're definitely thinking it's real deal, Maine lobsta roll. It's not. So I think it's misleading. That said. They are very good. And they aren't horribly overpriced for what you get.
I had an excellent experience. Food and service were above average. I had the goat cheese was absolutely fantastic, my two cocktails were great spins on classics and wonderful mixes of things I had not ever had. I dined alone but would love this place for a date night. Many other things on the menu I hope to come back and try
