Jewish student life is now enhanced!
Chabad is happy to be an OFF- CAMPUS resource for Vassar,Marist, CIA and DCC!
Vision:
With the vision to open the door of Judaism to all Jewish students and faculty at Vassar College, Marist College, The Culinary Institute of America and Dutchess Community College, we have established the Chabad House. A place where Jews of all backgrounds and degrees of observance can enjoy exploring their Jewish heritage in a warm, welcoming and accepting environment.
Philosophy
It's our core belief that every individual Jew has an indispensable contribution to make to the totality of the Jewish people. Predicated on the Mitzvah of "Ahavat Yisrael - love of a fellow Jew," Chabad seeks to engage fellow Jews at their own pace and comfort level through innovative educational programs in all areas of Jewish life.
Programs
Among our programs, we host weekly Shabbat dinners that provide Jewish students an intimate setting to eat, meet new friends from every niche of the campus community, and celebrate Shabbat in a spiritual and intellectually stimulating manner. Creative Holiday programs raise Jewish consciousness and pride throughout the community. Lectures and classes on Jewish law, philosophy, & ethics teach the relevance and the depth of our beautiful heritage to our community. We continue to meet with students individually around the clock.
Impact
Our efforts to engage the unaffiliated, and increase the opportunities for the affiliated, have been met with incredible success. For many, Chabad on Fulton – Student Center has been their first positive Jewish experience. Leaders on campuses have expressed wonder at Chabad on Campus's ability to seamlessly bring together a diverse community of undergraduates, faculty, and Jews of all backgrounds on an ongoing basis. Hundreds of students have had their connection to Judaism deepened because of the work of Chabad.
Funding
Being that we interact primarily with a student community, we provide all our programs and services free of charge. No one is ever turned away. The support for our programs comes solely from alumni, parents and friends.
Inspired
By The Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of blessed memory. For a glimpse into the Rebbe, go to therebbe.org
Chabad on Fulton – Student Center provides students with a warm home-like atmosphere, focusing on that which connects us and brings us together. We believe this is much more meaningful than concentrating on differences and divisions. Students from all walks of Jewish life, from all affiliations and backgrounds, joined together by a desire to experience the joy within Judaism.
Chabad is a forum where you can question your faith and not be afraid of judgment. A haven to run to when you're stressed or lonely and need a true friend. A center for prayer and study, where you can gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of your Jewish heritage. An academy providing texts and teachers for those who seek to learn. An arena of self introspection which blossoms true expression of self.
