They give housing to people who are abusing the system but the people who are struggling and really need it end up homeless. I know someone who works full time as a PSW and is living in housing. She just spent money on a nice vacation to Mexico yet I’m struggling to buy food for my kids and I. They need to get the people out of there who are abusing it because it’s not fair at all.
I don't understand how they say the waiting list is all these years to wait to get in when they clearly have so many units empty all over the city i seen with my pwn eyes, and nobody is even in these units that be sitting for months a when they can be putting families with young children in them that have no homes. So sad smh
The first time I went to them they told me up to 5 years waiting time. The second time I went them after two years, I was told waiting time is 15 to 20 years. How about my first waiting time? "Every time vulnerable peoples are added the waiting time is extended. Ok, lets try to be positive and wait for the next decades.
Applied 4 years ago still nothing ! I was told waiting time will be 4 years when I applied ! Know some families applied after me and they got in already . Guess you gotta know someone there or have some sort of connection to get in ! And once i get in IF im sure they will throw me and my kids in their worst area . Not a fair process
15-20 year wait for a one bedroom apartment? Bull----! I'm better off back in Michigan. Granted, I can't blame the staff for the fact that there's been no real investment in affordable housing for the past thirty years. However, this is clearly a problem with government at all levels. When you also consider the significant homeless population in the city centre, you know this is an issue that no one wants to address, and that the local population will pretend doesn't exist.
Why can't they do 1/2 stars??? Anyways, the employees are rude, and condescending towards pretty much everyone. They take your application for low income housing and as such look at you as you are somehow inferior or not as good as they are due to your financial situation. You go on a waiting list, could take weeks. months or in some 50%+ it takes years to get into affordable housing. It's a big joke to be honest.
I think the housing registry is awful. I still live my parents because I can't afford anything else right now. I have been on the list for almost 5 years. Still nothing. Feel like I'm gonna end up homeless. Awful service.
I waited over a year and kept being offered glengarry 3 times after I told them I didn't want glengarry. One of the worst neighbourhoods in Windsor. After those 3 times I was removed from their list and I will never go re apply. The whole process is humiliating all the while being treated like garbage from their employees.
My wife just got off the phone with someone from the housing, and I tell you they really need to screen the calls for the benefit of the employees not knowing anything about a customer when they call or either know wrong information, hooefully these are not school kids or foreigners hired through a call center because these people have no clue of whats going on and they don't answer the phones on Wenesday due they need training its not working, my wife on her way to Facebook to try to get results from a Operational Manager since these people answer the phones do not know enough information to give out to customers or either they say anything.
They process the applications depend who you are and if you know someone work there if not you will wait and wait till you give up. One program of discrimination with a good name.
