Story

The goal of the Recreation and Leisure Services program is to improve the quality of life for all citizens by developing healthy communities. Leisure service professionals are front-line practitioners in direct contact with program participants. They have many roles including leaders, teachers, group facilitators, advocates, referral workers, counselors, outreach workers or coaches. In addition, they have strong leadership skills and are able to establish programs, prepare budgets, market activities, recruit, train, assign and evaluate teams of volunteers.

Centennial is the only college in Ontario that features an extensive supervised field placement program, which allows for development of critical practical skills through integration of classroom learning into real life situations. The program’s curriculum also reflects current recreational focus on wellness, culture and heritage.

DO NOT GO TO SCHOOL HERE!!!! Applied to start school here in September 2017. Withdrew from my program a month before school started since I got an offer at a different school. Staff seem to be very unorganized and unwilling to help. From the start I have emailed several times to different departments inquiring about the program and OSAP. No one EVER replies. Now I am getting the run around to cancel my OSAP. I am so glad I'm not attending this school. Take your money elsewhere Seneca and Sheridan are better options and will answer any questions you have promptly.

Education and surrounds environment is very nice over here. I found a nice cafeteria over here for a quick bite. Disability wheel chair access is available over here. Parking system is nice and secured.

Horrible school, went for the hvac program and they didn't teach anything. Do not waste your time with this school, everyone I know that went here hated it.

Centennial College is not an educational institution. I was harmed financially, my time is lost, and the mental trauma I gone through this college, I am still recovering from it. The staff are like gang members of this college. I withdraw from this college when I was getting A+, A and B grades. I had to withdraw because I knew I would not get any help from the staff members even though I tried hard to study regardless what I faced at this college, but later when I understood that I can get into trouble for no reasons what so ever even though I seek my best for help from the college staff, but, indirectly they denied me help confirming, according to me, that I withdraw from this college. Among a lot of incidents I will mention only two incidents. Prostitution goes on this college. By the way, I was born in Bangladesh, but grew up in Canada. The campus I am talking about is named PROGRESS CAMPUS. I was doing my online quiz on the ground floor of the library that stays open until the time to close the whole building and I think that time was then 11:00 PM to close the whole building. I was just doing my online quiz on the ground floor of the library. The row beside me and two or three desk infront of me, a Bangladeshi female student (I am from Bangladesh, so I know) who's appearance I am saying here, and she is short with long black hair and fair skin, basically doing many types of movement with her body (I do not know what they call) and she was basically showing her body to two male students, one of whom was Caucasian and another was most probably Arab or Turkish or Persian, anyway, so basically she was doing her advertising on her body and both of them were watching. So, basically by that time, I knew that college so I was ignoring all three of them and doing my online quiz or assignment, so what happened, is that at the same time that Bangladeshi girl was showing or advertising her body to those two males, she was also targeting me, I was so hurt that I said something very bad to that girl, a Bengali bad slang, I do not remember what I said, but, I had no habit of saying of such bad word, I guess, I learned bad words at the Centennial College. I left and walked I think for two or three hours to my home at night, so that the mental hurt I got to get rid of it. Another event is that the Security agency that take cares of the Progress Campus of Centennial college, last Winter of 2016- 2017, I used to see that the computer laboratories used to kept open for students to use. And often, the computer labs used to be shut by the security guards before due time, so basically, we could not do any type of homework or assignments or any work related to our study. One day, before time, the whole building was shut down, before the time it was supposed to close the building of Progress campus, Centennial college. It was winter. So what happen is that, the doors that I had to go through to get my winter jacket from my locker, I could not get it, because the doors were closed. So, basically long story short is that the AFRICAN AMERICA security guard took me outside of the building and left me out there when the temperature was 5 degree celcious, and I was wearing I think jeans, and I was wearing 100% cotton half-sleeve or full sleeve T-shirt. Anyway as I said the incident I faced at the Progress Campus of Centennial College, I am still recovering from that mental trauma now. I faced through harassment at the college that made me feel to quit the college. My advice to you is, if you are a student, do not go to Centennial College. If you are an international student, do not come to Centennial College. If you are a parent of domestic or international student, please kindly do not send your kids to this college. This college destroyed my money, my time and my health. I am still recovering from the trauma that I developed because of Centennial College. I am just looking to Allah for their punishment for what the staff members and students did to me. Salaam.

DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN TO THIS COLLEGE! Also, those of you looking to change career paths and are/were thinking of applying to Centennial (like myself), PLEASE DON'T! Consider other colleges; and this is coming from someone that completed both a high school and a university undergrad in Toronto. Thinking Centennial would be a good place to attend for further education and training, I was completely wrong. By saying "what isn't wrong with this college" is the easiest way to sum up everything wrong with it. Their staff is extremely unprofessional and disorganized. Their professors could care less if you absorb the material or not, they just want their paycheck at the end of the day. Half the students are CLEARLY cheating during exams or pay other students to complete their assignments while the professors just look the other way acting 'innocent', as if they have no idea what's happening right in front of them. Also, believe it or not, a friend of mine who has a learning disorder applied to Centennial with admissions reassuring her that there would be resources available for assistance to her, but instead she was treated HORRIBLY by a staff member at the Centre for Students with Disabilities and the HUB. Oh and if you are a female thinking of attending this college then this is DEFINITELY NOT a place for you! You will have eyes staring you down from head to toe and men approaching you with inappropriate requests even if you are dressed for Antarctica; just walking from one class to another is extremely uncomfortable so don't put yourself through that stress. Do your research before applying to any college but do apply anywhere else.
