As a recent graduate of the Social Service Worker program at Centennial College and a recipient of the Indigenous Studies Certificate, I am so grateful for my experience at Centennial Colleges Ashtonbee CampusnnThe campus is relatively large, although there are only a couple of hallways for the Social Service Worker program. While attending, I noticed the rest of the campus is focused on historically male-dominated fields. It would have been helpful to have the Social Services programs in a separate campus or separate building to prevent the program from feeling like an afterthoughtnnThe library was a wonderful resource here for printing, scanning, and studying. The cafeteria was easy to navigate and their food options were cost-effective and convenient. Of course, it’s college cafeteria quality but there were seating options available and outdoor seating, as well!nnTons of student supports were available and accessible, including CALCS, professor support before and after lectures, the library staff, admissions centre, financial aid centre, and morennDuring my time at Centennial College, I felt included in student body decisions of policy revisions, various social events including the Conversations for Social Change event, and had many opportunities to engage with peers from different programs
They love taking students money for parking and anything else. I paid 700 plus dollars for a parking pass from September 2023 to April 2024, and now forced to pay $110 more for just 2 week while exams are going on for us. What a way to treat students. Not to mention the expensive and terrible cafeteria food, random $20 fees for students cards, even though tuition is paid in full….should have gone to Mohawk!
Took the m1 exit motorcycle training here. Nothing but good things to say. I failed the test the first week and ended up coming back for a retest. There was something to learn from each instructor as long as you’re willing to make mistakes for them to see and each one of them will pick up on something different. Every instructor had a great sense of humour and the class, even though was a little tiring because it’s the whole day, was made fun because of the instructors. I was second guessing my decision to ride by the end of each day, but the instructors were all so helpful which made me not want to give up. Tom and Rick were both there on both weekends and saw me come back for the retest and made sure I knew what I was doing wrong for a successful second time around. Real friendly and funny especially Tom lol group of instructors/mentors/friends here and you’ll be sure to enjoy it. Like all the other riders, I can't thank them enough!nnThe only nitpicking is booking the retest CEMO806 on the phone takes a little longer, if that can be done online, it's be perfect
Honestly , it's a shame that the college ended up being nothing but a money grabber. I deeply regret choosing Centennial College from the beginning. Had a lot of negative experiences from start to finish.nIt explains everything why it has low reviews on Google as well!
I recently completed the M1 exit motorcycle course - and I’m so glad I did.nnAs someone who’d only ever been a passenger on a motorcycle, this class is a must for any new rider!nnThe instructors were fantastic; they were knowledgeable, encouraging, and at times brutally honest - which was 100% necessary for the safety of everyone.nnLooking forward to doing the M2 exit course here when the time comes.
