Cave Point County Park

To truly experience Cave Point you have to go 4 times once in each season spring, summer, fall, and winter. Also please be careful! lack of railings is a thing, it is dangerous! watch your kids and your own footing for that matter, especially if it's wet. Also hike the trails you'll be happy you did. If you're still up for more hiking after that you can actually hike into Whitefish Dunes State Park along the coast and enjoy the numerous Trails available there as well as the beach and dunes.

Cave Point County Park is beautiful. The best time to come is when there are high waves so you can watch them bash up against the rock walls. It is actually very exciting and pretty. I really did not want to give this place five stars because there is a pretty big downside. The crowds are often insane and parking sucks. But as long as you come here early in the day or during the week you will have no problem

If you're in Door County, and you've never been to cave point, be sure to make it a priority! Cave Point has long lakeside trails and wonderful trails in the woods. A great hiking spot, and even better snowshoeing spot! The sightlines are absolutely stunning, and in the winter there's nothing like seeing the ice formations that are everywhere you look!

My friend and I went in late November (though unseasonably mild!) in the last hour or two of daylight. There were only a couple of other people around, and it often felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. My friend was somewhat underwhelmed, as he thought he would be able to go *into* a cave, but the waves crashing against the rocks and caverns made for some spectacular splashes and booming percussion. We were also treated to a remarkable sunset, which lit the water in a way that resembled fire, with the leaping droplets looking like flames.

Great little park with incredible rock cliffs along the water. Great photography location. Water off the lake creates BIG waves that have cut the cliffs and cut out caves and little inlets into the rocks. There is a ledge that you can climb down to when the waves are low to swim and see and photograph the cliffs. The daring can dive off the cliffs into deep cut rock pools... be careful, but it is SOOO fun! If you want to swim or dive, go in late summer when the water might be warm enough to get into without getting hypothermia. Road in is long, winedy and poorly maintained, but beautiful itself.
