Castaway Bay

I’m currently writing this review from my hotel room at Castaway Bay... The park was great, my four year old had lots of fun. But the hotel is AWFUL. The walls are thin as paper and there’s screaming kids all around us and in the hallways.. it’s currently 11:23pm. The front desk did nothing. I understand people are here to have fun but for $205 dollars a freakin night I should at least be able to sleep. Oh, and the bed is brick hard and the sheets and blankets are from the 60’s, thin and nasty! WILL NOT RETURN HERE! Go across the street to the holiday in and get the day pass to castaway bay!! Save your money, time, and sanity!!!!!!!!

Decent hotel with good amenities. My kids really enjoyed the water park. I wish snacks and drinks weren't overpriced, but honestly should have expected that with it being an amusement hotel. There are a lot of good places to get drinks and food close by. I would recommend to a friend.

The water park was great as was the other entertainment for the kids. My kids loved karaoke and meeting the Peanuts characters. The rooms could use an update, but the different options for room layouts were wonderful. We stayed in the tarpon bay room which was perfect for our family with four kids. Having the Quaker Steak and Lube attached to the hotel was a bonus as we were there when temps were in the single digits.

Hotel needed a good cleaning. There was plenty of staff everywhere. They worked in the hotel rooms, restaurant on site and even Quaker steak which is attached. It appeared almost as though the vacuums themselves didn't work, because the cleaning crew never stopped. There was visible dirt throughout our rooms. The buffet for $12 had Luke warm food. Sausage was frost burnt. Pancakes seemed microwaved. This added to an unhappy stay, after the rooms we booked in person, after booking online were not corrected. 3 rooms, one family, Bay view. When we arrived there was no Bay room. One room was not even available til well after check in time. The quality of sound proofing in the rooms was awful. We have two young girls and my sister has a toddler. The three went to bed around 8. The noise in the hallways sounded as if it was in our rooms. We vacation often and spend a lot each year on this particular vacation. We have all decided that was our first and last stay at cast away. It was also our daughters birthday and they could have cared less. They don't even offer token for the arcade unless everything is booked more than 30 days. Last year on her birthday we stayed right up the road at a hotel geared more toward business persons and they were very hospitable and accommodating.

We had several things go wrong on this trip. The cookie and crafts were not available 8 minutes after the kids club opened. My brother found the Christmas stockings since the worker was just sitting in the corner. We left them overnight because they were supposed to be filled with a surprise. The only surprise was that one of the stockings were gone. We had a gift card to use for food. The gift card machine was not working, we found out after ordering $50 worth of food. Snoopy did show up for the book reading, only about 10 minutes late. The bigger water slides on the kids play area were closed until after we were leaving. I honestly wish we had spent a little more money and gone to Kalahari!
