Hole in the wall Trini/Jamaican restaurant that only does takeout. The service is very fast and the order was ready within 10 minutes. Food was great, got the Jerk Chicken meal which comes with coleslaw. Not the best I’ve had but still pretty good. Doubles were very small for $4 and had barely any filling. Patty was also standard. It was a good meal but I was expecting more.
This place has gone down hill. I can’t even believe I was given the food I had gotten. The chicken was not cooked what so ever it was extremely pink, the quality of the food was terrible and even the “jerk” sauce tasted like hot bbq sauce. It is not the same food that I had ordered in the past from here. I paid for a large portion and they gave me child size pieces that had barely any meat on it. I do not recommend ordering here. You can tell the owner does not care about their quality of food and customers.
NeW Edit Reply To restaurant comment: No sorry, I was ordering way before the holidays to ,including last year once in awhile so saying it’s because the holidays is pretty much invalid,I’m just writing this review late cause I was giving u guys chances to get it right -original review comment: Unfortunately not buying from you guys again, I’m usually a very passive quiet person buut I’ve ordered a handfuls of times there isn’t that many Jamaican places in London I use to get Jamaican food all the time in Toronto, so I’ve been trying here since I moved, so I would order a large and more then half the time they give me a regular size meal I now feel like they are doing it on purpose because when I’ve ordered I explicitly said make sure I get a large because I’ve gotten regular by mistake often enough yet they still most times gave me regular . I usually have to contact skip or Uber to get my money back , and I know what the large is supposed to look like . I’m not saying you’re scamming,since Covid some restaurants have been giving less food on takeout to save money/stockbut make sure your employees double check before letting the driver leave with it. Also what use to be boneless isn’t anymore so your given more bones then meat now what’s up with that dude? Example: The curry goat being mostly bone common u kno I’m bein straight with u curry goat is usually my favourite Jamaican dish yet yours has no meat Ya-kno, I kno there’s suppose to be bone but there’s also supposed to be meat lol , the food is suppose to be hardy not just full of bones. Maybe look at other Jamaican restaurants in Canada and see how they do their food cause I def got my moneys worth in Toronto where one of them even bbq outside , you can see and tell it’s hardy just by walking by. I think u guys need to revalue how u do certain things or your just gunna keep getting disappointed customers… It sucks when you don’t even get what you paid for multiple multiple times ,please talk to your staff.I don’t like giving bad reviews but it’s the honest truth my dudes. hope your able to fix the issues.
Two Sunday ago I decided to try Caribbean Stove Pickup. I bought 1 medium Oxtail with steamed veges, 1 medium stew chicken. Went home ate the steamed veges, went I got to the rice and peas it was sour. The rice and peas was bad rancid. I moved stuff around to see if all of the rice was rancid and it was. Called my sister she verified it smelled bad as well. Tasted my son's plain rice it too was rancid. I took the food back. I was told I could not get my money back. I mention to the girl behind the counter that I am Trini and I know when rice is no good. She told me that she did not know that Trini people knew anything about Oxtail. I had to laugh and had to tell her Trini people cook Oxtail, Jerk etc...even mentioned I cook Oxtail as well. I did not cook because I had taken my son and one of his friend's ice skating. Now I am not sure if they did not want to cook a new batch of rice when I ordered my food because they are closed Monday's and told me to come in to see the Manager Tuesday morning. Well I have to work. Finally last Sunday Jan.29th 2023 got to speak to the manager, she said I ate most of the food..I have no reason to lie and I did eat the steamed veges to get out of the way. I did not eat the meat which she said I did. one of the girls that I ordered from came around the corner. I said to her how can you lie like this, you know i did not eat the meat. So with the manager not entertaining customer service, I told if it's my money she wants, keep my money. Why would I lie when at the end of the day my son and I paid 37.29 got no money back or food and had to go get supper elsewhere still. Hopefully they choke on my money or their rancid food...by far the nastiest food I have ever ordered.
Food is hit and miss. But overall, the owners Facebook page, Facebook messenger do not reply to your complaints. Best to order through Uber eats so you can Atleast get your money back. Maybe try another place. My friend is also Trinidad and was grossed out at how much fat are in these dishes versus the meat content your portions are small or they will try to put more rice in to make it look bigger
I only have the “Doubles” photo here. But this one hit the spot! Good amount of spices and mango chutney. Would love to see more shredded cucumber and a little more salt. Also tried their goat stew -could use a little more flavor but acceptable. Also their prices are within range and portions are huge. Coming back? Yup!
I ordered from Uber today, and the portion size was shockingly so less. I order from them often and actually ordered as recent as Monday. The quantity is always sooo nice and the taste is delicious. But today even the taste is different, portion is off. I also asked for some island hot sauce as topping. paid extra for it I didn’t even get that. Did you guys change the chef or something?
I love their curry goat! I’ve ordered it twice now and both times it was great. I also purchased a bottle of their homemade hot sauce which is so tasty as well. I would highly recommend this place. I went in there around late dinner hour and the counter was just lined up with take out orders which just goes to show how popular the place is. Next time I will be ordering the curry chicken.
Ordered a couple of Doubles with pepper and none pepper. I’m a Trini so was excited to order but ended up disappointed: the doubles were not wrapped like a double supposed to look looked more like a subway wrap. Know for me when I eat food I finish the plate but after a couple of bites I ended up throwing the food away which is not like me. May have to find another Trinidad spot even if I have to drive 2 hours for good Trini food. Shame I ordered a few to make sure this is the one if this turned out good I was looking to make more orders including a big order for Family visit which would of been over $200 for next week
Absolutely incredible , everything. So flavorful, the jerk chicken is the most moist and juicy tender chicken I've ever tasted, tons of flavor. The Patty's are amazing, the doubles are tasty, the oxtail is to die for, plantain is perfect. seriously the best carribean food I've had in London so far. Highly recommended
