Story

At Canoe Restaurant and Tavern, we serve up views of picturesque Lake Winnipesaukee with our Lobster Mac & Cheese, hand-cut steaks and award-winning Sweet and Sour Calamari. Whether it's a night out with the family or a quiet evening with friends, we serve something for every taste and appetite.

We offer five dining areas each with its own inviting atmosphere, including the "Oar House" for your private party and the Porch for open-air dining during the summer.

Canoe is Chef/Owner Scott Ouellette's first restaurant in the Lakes Region.

I want this place to be 5 stars but it just isn't. The atmosphere is great and the menu has some great selections. However, the food and service is lacking. I went in on a Sunday before the dinner rush. Service was slow despite having few people in the dining room. The food was mediocre, especially for the slightly higher prices. I ordered the Thai style calamari. Half the calamari was drenched in sauce making it extreamily soggy. The steak tips I ordered were dry and tough, I ended up having to get steak sauce for them. Additionally the onion strings I ordered with them were cold. The crème brûlée was good although small. Overall I would recommend going over to Meredith where there are much better choices.

No doubt one of my favorite spots. The dim lighting and the white tablecloths with a relaxing lakeside spot. The mac and cheese has fed my family and me for years as one of our favorite dishes. The waiting staff has always been welcoming and inviting.

Very nice meal with great service. Food and prices are upscale, you get what you pay for.

Great food, great atmosphere! Sit at the downstairs bar with Mike and receive great service with entertainment on top! Ordered the NY Strip, amazing and cooked to perfection!
