I had a service done by A&Y Pluming with the Home Service and was great! Carlos was very honest, fast and resolved the issue under my kitchen double sink very quickly and also gave me advice of how to keep my washroom sinks inplugged and runnig. Highly recommneded!
Homeservice Club is always there to save the day! I had an issue with my dryer and the repair was done efficiently and at a reasonable cost the next day. We have been ripped off by companies in the past and Homeservice club gives us a peace of mind because they are just a quick phone call away. We have had many contractors ghost us but that has never been the case with Homeservice. Excellent customer service and the technicians know what they are doing.
I have more faith that the Easter Bunny will deliver on his commitments than I do in the Home Service Club. I have been a non-paying member for many years. I stopped using them after an HVAC contractor installed my Hot Water Boiler in an unsafe manner that showed up during a safety inspection. I had to really fight to get them to honour their "double" warranty. But that was many, many years ago and I stopped using them obviously until recently. I was away from the house and my AC failed due to a mistake by a Roofer Contractor not affiliated with the Home Service Club. I let Home Service Club send an Electrician and an HVAC Contractor into my house my neighbour kindly let them in to do the work. I was not there to supervise them. When I got home this week, I found things in my house moved, debris around my home, lights left on in my house and damage to my brand new LG Dryer that is located right below the Electrical Panel that both the Electrician and the HVAC Contractor accessed. I called Sarah Reynolds at the Home Service Club immediately for help. The LG part in question on the Dryer costs $144.80 to replace. The Electrician's invoice is $1017. The HVAC's invoice is $1553.75. In other words, I was looking to the Home Service Club to compensate me in the amount of $144 for the damage that occurred to my property in the exact area where the 2 unsupervised Contractors were. Now I can't prove they did it. So, how did Home Service Club respond? Well, there is no genuine empathy for damage done. Do they ask to come out and see the damage? No. Do they ask how they can help? No. Do the investigate beyond asking their 2 contractors if they did it? No. Do they blame others? Yes. Do they wrap up their enquiry quickly? Yes, they do, by asking you for full payment even though I had only received the hard copy of the Invoice that very day. I am an easy going Customer who pays all invoices promptly, who lends my tools and gives my own supplies to Contractors and assists them in any way I can. Do I complain when the Contractors leave garbage? No. And they did. Do I complain when they climb a fence I told one of them not to? No. But I do expect better of a Company who holds themselves out to Homeowners as a trusted intermediary. I am providing this review to assist Homeowners who are looking at great ways to hire a Contractor. I am not providing feedback to the Home Service Club vis this review because they don't genuinely care about their Customers. More importantly, Home Service will just tell you how many years they've been in business and that they vet their Contractors. Well, do a Google search for a renovation project and you will not find them listed. Home Service has no reviews on Yelp. They compete with Home Starrs, N49, Task Rabbit and so many more companies who operate in the GTA but they have no digital footprint. I became a non paying member of the Club through a professional association. That association no longer has a relationship with the Home Service Club. No association I am aware of offers membership any more to the Home Service Club as a Member Perk. What does that tell you? No ads on Google searches? No ability to offer $144 as a customer goodwill solution? No algorithm to assign you a good Contractor? I don't have faith in the quality of the Contractors, in the value of the double guarantee or that anyone at Home Service Club cares about the Homeowner Customers. But I do believe that the Easter Bunny will deliver! So there's hope.
While it may seem convenient to have access to multiple quotes up to 3 from licensed contractors, it comes at too a high price IMO. I had a recent quote for an old wooden front gate door to be replaced as it was literally falling off the hinges due to age. The contractor didn't want to send me the contract via email we are still in a pandemic though I asked and explained I was managing the property long-distance and could not pick it up in person. I asked him if the office could send me the contract but he seemed quite in a hurry to just book the job and said after he was done I should inspect the work before payment. The price was quite high - over $1100 and the contractor did not clean up the wooden debris/mess on the property afterwards. I had to push the office and the contractor to clean up the mess left on the property before I would make full payment as there was no signed contract indicating the clean up would cost extra. For that price clean-up should be an automatic for any decent, professional contractor who cares about customer service. To make matters worse, when I did go to the property days later, the latch of the gate stopped working properly, so I had to call HSC again to get the contractor to come back and fix it so it would latch securely upon closing. For the price paid, this should not have happened. It was a simple job that was over priced and came with contractor attitude. Period. I also received 2 quotes I asked for 3 on a small basement window repair. Both quotes were over $900, which I found suspect given the small size and simple style of the window. I checked around with outside contractors whose prices came in far below what I was quoted by Home Service Club. I ended up getting the job done by one of those outside contractors who charged me less than $300 and they were efficient and reliable - job was done in under 2 hours and the window looks great. WHY Home Service Club is charging 3x much more for a window that could be bought at Home Depot/ Lowe's for under $200 is astounding. I would have paid almost triple the cost if I had used Home Service Club. No, I can't recommend this company to friends and family because it seems their pricing is always set at a minimum price regardless the nature of the job. I've never received a quote for small handyman jobs for less than $900. This has been my experience with them over the years anyway while managing my elderly parents home, but no more. My advice - check outside contractors' prices before you book HSC - the "membership convenience" may end up costing you hundreds of dollars more!
I would have given extra stars if I could have. I have been a long time member of Home Service Club of Canada. I had an issue with a sealer recommended by a retailer that I applied to a small marble topped vanity in my home and Sarah of Home Service Club arranged for Len to call me. Len called me and gave me the steps on how to remove the bad sealing product which the store later said should not have been sold to me for my needs. We also exchanged texts until I finally had the countertop back to a good smooth finish after removing the bad sealer. I was elated to able to fix the issue with Len’s guidance via phone / texts especially during these COVID times. I offered to pay for his help but he said was just happy to help. In addition to the beyond fantastic bathroom and kitchen he and Luis had completed in 2018 in my home loving these rooms every single day!, I want to say that Len is a truly amazing reno professional and a great asset to Home Service Club. I appreciate the time he took to help me out. Not many are like Len. The company and myself are fortunate to have someone like him - so patient, knowledgeable, helpful and professional. I would like to finally add that Sarah at Home Service Club has always been so polite and eager to ensure my home needs were taken care of. Thank you Len, Luis and Sarah!
For years, I have been a satisfied customer, but frankly I am not sure of their service after a talk I had when renewing my membership. The invoice they provide through e-mail is at the least minimal. I asked about their coverage, and I was told to look at their website ! , which I did. I left an assessment. Finally, a staff member called and apologized. They will send the required information with the updates. This is much appreciated.
I contacted them for roofing quotes, after 9 days and no one contacting me I emailed them again and finally 2 companies came out and quoted my roof. I had 4 other quotes done outside of using Homeservice Club and they were all much better priced. One company they sent me was almost $5000.00 more then my highest quote before dealing with them. I am not sure why anybody would deal with them unless they like to get ignored and separated from their hard earned money.
Homeservice Club provides reliable honest contractors in an emergency. With the membership fee they provide emergency service and this saved us considerable stress when our hot water tank burst and flooded part of our basement. With one call to them, we got an immediate referral and call back on our needs. Very happy that we have been with them for over 10 years.
They were ok to deal with us until they disagreed with coverage of a particular part for our washer. If I am paying to insure my appliances, then you should cover whatever the part is, it is not my problem what the cost is to you for that part. After some pushing, they did replace the part a few months later, but then refused to renew our insurance thereafter. In summary, stay away if you want comprehensive insurance! In your response you mention: “.. a second technician was despatched...” for the washer and that was only after we did not back down. Had we done so we would have been left with repair costs for the washer. In any case, it is unprofessional of you to deny your services just because we pushed for you to fulfill your obligations. Thanks.
I have always been very satisfied with the Home Service Club and have recommended them to many neighbours. The contractors they have provided have been excellent. I have noticed lately that some contractors do not call within the two business day promise, due to heavy workload. The Club has followed up for me or provided alternate contractors. I have a vacation home in a location where there is no Home Service Club and have learned how much time and aggravation my Home Service Club membership saves me! Highly recommended!
