Unfortunately this place will soon get bulldozed because the administrators of Downsview Park have been paid off by an American company to turn the site into a hockey rink. They have consistently refused to provide an answer as to why the rink has to be on that particular site, instead of somewhere else in the area. Instead of simply building somewhere else they want to spend a lot of money to tear down a building before putting up another. The Conservative government is also in on it, because they removed the historical designation for the building, without any notice or explanation. Someone, for some unknown reason, wants to destroy the ability to remember and teach Canadian aviation history, and any ability to preserve it's artifacts.

This museum is a hidden gem, that few people seem to know about. The staff can tell you the history of the museum, as a manufacturing plant for early aircraft as well as provide details of Canadian aviation history. They have the light craft used in the real story that 'Fly Away Home' is based on, a replica of the Avro Arrow and an aircraft that can fly by flapping it's wings, literally. It is a fascinationg place and I highly recommend a visit.
