We were very pleasantly surprised. The food was great. The street corn nachos were great. The service was excellent. The only negative was they did not have regular Mexican hot sauce which was odd. We will go back again. A nice addition to the burbs
We had the most amazingly welcoming, polite and funny waitress. Grace made our first visit such an amazing time! The fresh nacho chips and salsa were soooo fresh and tasty. It made me want to book a Mexican vacation soaking up the sun on a beach. The decor of the place was so nice. We will definitely be back!
Very interesting atmosphere, serves booze as well as kid friendly, has a patio, looks clean and organized. The food was a little bland and the corn was overcooked and needed seasoning. For a Mexican restaurant the staff wasn’t very diverse. The server didn’t offer any info on the drinks we ordered, she asked if we been there before we said no, she still didn’t offer any info on the drinks, the one I ordered was spicy and I would’ve liked to know that before hand. Near the end of our meal the waitress asked if I wanted more water I said yes and she didn’t bring it lol. Maybe the evening staff has more diversity? Not sure.
Service and staff are great, very attentive and fast service. The tacos are awesome but the only hot sauce they now carry is Cholula which is tasty but not hot. I have been coming here solo or with my sons as a group, and we always have the tacos, wings and nachos with their hottest sauces, usually a habanero; sometimes we even bring our own homemade, but at least they would have a selection. What manager interested in their customers would think that a single hot sauce choice is acceptable? A good hot sauce accentuates the flavour of the food. My review would be 5 star if they provided the type of options they used to. But alas someone has decided not to make printed menus available, or to carry a selection of hot sauces to cater to different customer wants. It’s almost like an accountant is running the place now. I’ve been gone for 4 months and this place has went downhill. Pictures include one in which I called and asked my wife to bring us some hot sauces… New edit, just went to the washroom and no paper towels only hand blowers. Pretty much becoming disillusioned with this place now.
Had a wonderful time with family at Calavera Cantina. Staff was friendly and helpful, as I have a food allergy. Generous portions. Pitchers of margaritas were so tasty had regular lime and raspberry. I will be coming back for the Ahi Tuna Bowl. I would recommend this establishment to anyone who likes Mexican style food.
Decided to check this place out. I had the burrito! It was so good. Our server Grace was so fun! She was on point and got everything right. She gave us all lots of information on all the specials and drinks they had. Food and drinks were great. Would reccomend them for a fun night out and great Mexican Food!
Pleasantly surprised by this place! Tacos were incredible… full of flavour! 3 were perfect size to eat with the salsa and chips, which were so yum too! Our server was really sweet and welcoming! We weren’t having alcohol, so we had a Hibiscus Jarritos! So yum! Will definitely pop back for margaritas. So surprised at the nit-picky reviews on here… some very unfair ratings definitely!
I came here for lunch with a friend today. The food was delicious! Tacos, margaritas and churros. Yum yum! Will definitely be back! We tried the fish, pork and beef tacos. My favorite were the beef and fish.
Arrived into Calgary from Kelowna and was hungry for a late dinner. Our friends that we were staying with suggested this restaurant. We arrived with one hour left to spare for dining in this location. Our waitress was friendly but a little flighty. She was not as attentive as one would expect and our food took a long time to arrive. We ordered guacamole chips and salsa, pick 3 tacos, wings, crunchy chicken burger and chicken quesadilla. The restaurant was upscale decorations and very beautiful.
Atmosphere was great! Loved the art and decor. Bathrooms were spotless. Tons of parking. Lots of seating. Easy to read menus. Food was decent. Didn’t like the salsa as much as other Mexican restaurants, but it was still decent. Tacos we had were beef and fish, both were good! Ironically when I threw the salsa on the tacos it made it better. Burrito was delicious, got the beef one. Last item at the table was a pull pork open face item, it was spot on too. We would come back and try other items on the menu. Worth visiting if you like Mexican food.
