"Bâtie en 1688 par un soldat français, l’Auberge Saint-Gabriel est la première « auberge » en Amérique du Nord qui reçoit le premier permis d’alcool au pays le 4 mars 1754.Au 19e siècle, elle se transforme en hôtel particulier. En 1914, elle redevient l’Auberge Saint-Gabriel pour retrouver sa vocation première grâce à Ludger Truteau. Elle est rachetée en 1987 par la famille Bolay.C’est un lieu chargé de l’histoire du Québec qui se cache sous ces lourdes pierres. En effet, par exemple la salle Truteau était l’ancienne imprimerie Beauchemin au début du siècle, celle là même qui imprimait le journal Le Patriote ! Également… Juste en dessous, au Velvet, se tenait un ancien poste de traite de fourrures…"

A charming location and an attentive staff. We dined here in the last day the fire was blazing in the hearth and as the first ones in for the evening, were seated facing the cozy fire. Nice touch! We could also watch the cauliflower and various meats roasting on a nearby spit. So, of course we had to have cauliflower as an appetizer. With additions of pine nuts and glaze, it was a delight. We enjoyed the fresh bread served before the meal especially since there was a variety of types. We enjoyed our meals of lamb and duck and had a nice evening soaking up the atmosphere, good food and good drinks.
Had a wonderful atmosphere and great ambiance. Got a tasty Cornish hen with crisp fries on the side, best chicken I've ever had! Prepared very nicely with lovely seasoning. The staff were kind and accommodating, our waiter was very helpful and friendly. 10/10, would go again!
We asked our concierge for a “landmark” restaurant for our last night in the historic neighborhood of Montreal and selected Auberge Le St- Gabriel. The dining room takes you back in time with an open fireplace and beautiful wood beams on the ceiling and stone walls. Our waiter was excellent- knowledgeable on the menu and helpful, and wonderful service. The food was very enjoyable, I particularly enjoyed the bone marrow and the duck. Overall a wonderful end to our getaway in Montreal.
I experienced dining in the domes outside for the first time and it was amazing. The 3 service course was good but what truly made it exceptional is the unique setting in which you eat. There are heaters inside so it wasn't particularly cold. Highly recommend the experience
Beautiful venue lacking some organization when it comes to events. Long wait lines outside despite being ticket holders, however I appreciate the security team’s work throughout the process. Coat check was on a tipping basis, which was great. Drink prices as expected.
I visited on 3/25/23. French restaurant. The atmosphere here is top notch. Service was great. I ordered the risotto and it was excellent. It’s a cozy atmosphere, perfect for a date night or family gathering. I love the igloos out front.
My daughter's civil wedding took place here. The ambience was superb and the food and drinks served were par excellence. The service was impeccable and professional with even the smallest request being catered to with a smile.
So good and glad we came! Rich taste and superb textures in everything.
Wow! Beautiful ambiance! Was there for a cocktail event, and simply drawn to the vibe. There was a temporary tattoo station that was super unique.
Excellent food. Music got crancked up twice during dinner and service was very slow. But overall a very pleasant experienceFood: 5/5
