Great park with an awesome pool. There's a few playgrounds for the kids, canoe and kayak rentals, nature trails and lots of picnic areas. Campsites range from unserviced to sites with water and electricity. if you want to check out the area around the park I'd recommend Bob's Place for a meal and the pier at Port Maitland for a fun day trip. *Be warned that due to lifeguard shortages that as of this review the pool and water rentals are not open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Might be worth asking if this has changed when you make reservations.
This park is great. Beautiful views of sunset and sunrise, clean and well kept, pool was beyond refreshing. We will be coming back here every year from now on.
We came and stayed for 5 nights, we had a great time but the pool being closed Tues and Wed due to lack of lifeguards was a total bummer. For me the highlight is the pool and with little staff there the capacity was 125 on a very hot day. We came to the pool early and got kicked out for a 20 break and when we came back it was full. Waited in line for over a half hour with no shade sucked. Plus they count each head and that includes people who aren't even swimming, and just sitting off to the side watching. Sucks of others waiting in line. I hope next year gets better cause I do want to come back.
Byng is a great place to camp for a.few days to a week reasonable prices for a family stay , fishing was great and lots of friendly people , the stay was great rain or shine , kayaking an boat launches are avalible if need to reach the grand river , lots of nice sites an things to do if traveling the area or from the local area.
This place is great if you like boating and fishing. The park is also close to Lake Erie about 15-min drive so if you like fishing then definitely check out Lake Erie as well. There is no beach in the park and the pool is also closed for 2021 so not too many options for those with kids. The campsite that we stayed was quiet and everything seemed well maintained.
Amazing place for a leisure outing. Had lots of fun with family. The water park is a nice place for kids. They also have life guards, so no worries even if you don't know how to swim. The place also has nice picnic spots in side and RV park for night stays. It is usually busy during summer weekends. Best time to go in June-September. Don't forget to bring your own snacks!
I've been going every year for over 30. I grew up camping there and now, so are my kids. We absolutely love it there.
I am a seasonal camper at this conservation area I do love the campground I’ve been here for 6 seasons it’s close to my home town the hammer 45 minutes away no crazy traffic coming here or going back home to the hammer nice countryside drive , however I have to agree with someone’s review about this place , park rules and regulations are nonsense anyone camping here is aware of the quiet time from 11 pm to 8 am . Unfortunately most of the campers coming to the park some night and even seasonal don’t follow the rules as they tend to go on with their party beyond the quiet time some even go on until 2 am no park staff ever comes around to check on the loud parties making absolutely horrible for others to get some needed rest from their travels to the park and not enjoying quiet night to relax and enjoy the nature ,park does have security but you will hardly see them they will come around 10 pm or eleven pm after that they will not be seen again Maybe at the front gate to the park ,it is very upsetting to someone trying to enjoy their night at the park .Other issues like some of the washrooms due to the lacking of ventilation they are very hot and humid really uncomfortable if you have to sit in there for a couple of minutes it will look like you were in a sauna .This is my opinion about one of the places I called my getaway from the big city
Had a great family reunion there have to go early to get picnic tables in a good location as it is first come first serve.the huge pool is lifeguard serviced at a small cost of 2$ the park staff are friendly and helpful with extra trash bags for the trash cans close by, picking up full bags when needed.
Stayed at Byng Island early October. There were only a few seasonal's in the park in the section I stayed in and only a few non-seasonal's like me. It was very quiet. The dogs and I enjoyed our hikes though the paths are sadly too short. That might be a good thing as my one old dog Kiwi cannot walk very far and I had to carry her most of the hike : . If you tent camp I used to tent camp, there are some really nice spots in Byng Island. The Park is quite large and I can see how kids can easily be kept entertained all day biking, walking, fishing, looking for frogs, swimming I hear the pool is quite impressive in the summer and having fun with friends. The staff were very friendly and the other campers that I encountered helpful and pleasant as well. I needed propane and Dunnville was a quick trip and propane easy to get. Overall a great weekend and I just wanted to snug right up in my trailer and not head back to work.
