Gawd, these folk make fine ice cream. Honestly, some of the best I’ve ever had and I’ve had great ice cream all over the world. We’ll be back again and again. Delicious milk and cookies flavour and divine, locally sourced mint also a winner. Great gender positive vibes. Ample parking.
Burnt Honey is a lovely dessert shop run by lovely people. Although this place is known around town for its delicate, colourful, and tasty macarons, Burnt Honey also has a lovely variety of flavours of ice cream including flavours for your vegan friends. I enjoy the pleasant atmosphere of this small shop, and its staff's easygoing and kind demeanour. For this reason, I recommend Burnt Honey for you and anyone in your life who loves tasty treats!
100/10 amazing flavours, super creamy & delicious. First time I’ve actually enjoyed eating a macron & it was to die for!! My partner got the lavender brown sugar so good! and I got the Nutella. I loved the atmosphere, will defiantly be back. Those macrons are addicting
I am obsessed! We went for the first time ever the other day, tried the lavender honey ice cream, lavender salt macaroon, cookies and milk ice cream, Nanaimo bar macaroon, and fresh mint and chocolate ice cream. Oh my GOODNESS! The lavender salt macaroon haunts my dreams, and the ice cream was beyond perfect. The whole family raved about it! We brought home a pint of burnt honey ice cream and it was so dreamy I could cry. Best ice cream shop on the island, and the macaroons….I don’t even like macaroons but these are my new favourite food. 10000000/10 - adore this shop.
World class ice cream right here!! Incredible flavour. And I don’t say that lightly - I’ve eaten a lot of ice cream. I’ve tried 20+ of the 72 flavours at Mario’s in Vancouver. I’ve sampled authentic Italian Gelati in Rome, and had thick custardy French ice cream in Paris. And this right here is good ice cream. My husband and I brought home 3 kinds to try and at first we were skeptical, because it just looked like plain, coloured smoothness in a tub. There weren’t, like, a bunch of chunks. We like chunks. We’re Moose Tracks fans. But… The FLAVOUR!! These guys have nailed some really unique combinations like basil-chocolate that are hard to balance, and even the familiar ones like mint chocolate taste incredibly authentic to the actual herbs involved. I have peppermint all over my yard and eat it all the time and this ice cream didn’t taste like cheap imitation mint it tasted like real peppermint. No idea what kind of ingredients they use but the flavours are so fresh I’m just super impressed. We loved all three. Will be coming back for more very soon.
As a vegan of over a decade, I've had a lot of vegan ice cream from a lot of different places. I recently moved to the island from Vancouver, and finally tried my first cone at Burnt Honey. This is THE BEST ice cream and cone I have ever tasted. Fairly priced because the portions are huge splitting two scoops with my girlfriend was still more than we needed. We tried the dark chocolate and maple walnut and they were both mind blowing! Super creamy and flavourful, not too sweet but just sweet enough. Perfect melty texture but not so much that it was leaking everywhere. The waffle cone was like fresh caramel and held up great until the very last bite, with no spills. We will be back, like, tomorrow!
A great ice cream place. Everything is made in house and you can tell they put a lot of thought and work into their ice creams. They explained to me where all the ingredients come from and they try to use as many local suppliers as possible. The scoops are really huge! I've never had the burnt honey caramelized honey flavor before so it was really interesting and delicious to try. I'm not sure if I liked the matcha raspberry white chocolate as the flavors didn't go well together but separately they were delicious. Ample parking as it is part of a strip mall.
Exploring Nanaimo we stopped in at the Burnt Honey Dessert Company. We were greeted by friendly staff. They were quick to ask of any allergies, and shared about my selection of burnt honey ice cream. The ice cream had a wonderfully unique flavour of caramelized honey. The waffle cone was also great! We also ordered two macaron. Initially Raspberry Earl Grey and Nanaimo bar, and were followed quickly by Frootloops and Chai Latte. They were flavourful, colourful, and picturesque. Looking forward to returning!
We are from out of town and we happened to arrive just under 10 minutes before closing. The lady serving us was still very patient and allowed us to take our time to try out the different flavors. There was no pressure at all. The ice cream was very refreshing and not heavy, a great relief for a hot summer day. The signature burnt honey flavor is a must try.
My ice cream was so good I forgot to take a photo of it! Thank you Burnt Honey for the inclusive, amazing queer experience! This shop has tons of vegan, dairy-free and gluten-free options! We picked up a pint of London Fog to-go. My partner ordered the pistachio with a cone and it met all of her cravings and expectations! She loves pistachio ice cream and Burnt Honey does it incredibly right!
