The hospital is not good. I signed up with a new family Doctor that said Bronson but he switched to Borges I found out later. I was told to fast and just needed a regular check up as my old Dr retired. Came in they didn’t need to do anything and we talked a bit and that was it. Got a call next week to remind me of an appointment for blood work an I needed to fast. Showed up and the Dr asked why I was back. I didn’t know I even had an appointment. He said and I quote I guess I will send you over to have blood work at this other office. Got blood taken and have called twice but still have no clue on my results. Received a call on my sleep study. I was not aware of one scheduled. Picked up the unit and did it, turned it back the next day. Called a week later on how I passed but still wanted consultation. My response was for what I was never in for a sleep issue. Nurse advised most everyone gets this done at my age. I did not want this and said please just ignore all of it as I do not have any issues sleeping. Got a phone call two weeks later from a bill collecting agent. I had several office visit bills and consultation bills. I had not gotten one bill in the mail yet. She said it was standard practice to have them call before I get any bills in the mail and how would I like to pay for it. I asked if they had been run through my insurance yet. They had not. After all said and done with deductibles I have spent about a grand and still have gotten no answers on my blood work. I just wanted a new family Doctor and see what I should do at Mid-later 40’s. How much and for what they billed my insurance no wonder insurance is so expensive. They didn’t do half of what was charged. Never had issue like this with Bronson. I will die on the street before I let Borgess do anything with me again
Do NOT take your dog, cat, gerbil or even a goldfish to this hospital. Since Ascension took it over it has been a fast descent! Somehow money has replaced compassion. Their billing department is a total joke. We’ve been sending proof of payment for an ambulance trip in July. Mailed, faxed, emailed, carrier pigeon and St Bernard. DUH, they can’t figure it out. This is only the billing department. Thank goodness just an ambulance ride. I won’t touch on the hospital itself. Let’s just say…..it’s an experience you will never forget. Although you will wish you could.
One of the worst hospitals I've EVER been at. I've been waiting over 6 hours for severe chest pains and trouble breathing. They did an EKG the moment I arrived, never told me whether or not it was normal, waited 3 hours for my blood to be taken and an X-ray done ALL WHILE IN MAJOR PAIN AND TROUBLE BREATHING. I have congestive heart failure that runs in my family and the fact they aren't taking this more serious is unprofessional and highly irritating. My mother had to call the administrator JUST for me to get some kind of help. That's when they took me back to do my X-ray. In my experience Bronson is WAY better. Borgess, do better!
Terrible hospital. My daughter has been sitting in the lobby for over 3 hours now with chest pains. They keep saying they have no rooms available. And they don't care if she has a heart attack. You never leave someone sitting there that long with chest pains. EVER! Im surprised they haven't been sued already. That is absolutely unacceptable! I would give you minus 100 stars if I could. Update:I do have to give props to administration, they made sure something got done. Thank you!
A week ago my dad was seen in the emergency room, there was an incident with two of his dogs and he broke the dogs apart resulting in multiple wounds to his left hand/wrist, and right handjust not as bad as the left. because of how bad my dad was bleeding, we went to Borgess because it was much closer. He was taken back immediately to a room, had x-rays, and then here comes the doctor. He took a quick look at my dads wounds and stitched him up, wrapped his hands and sent him on his way with antibiotics. My dad was in a lot of pain and I did not feel like it was taken seriously. Borgess did such a “great job” that he went to see his PCP on Tuesday 11/15 for the emergency room check up and was told his left hand is infected and that he needed to go to Bronson Hospital immediately. My dad has been admitted since. It’s day five. On IV antibiotics, getting pain medicine. Getting the proper care he should have gotten to begin with. He’s also had hand surgery and is scheduled for another surgery on Monday. At this point, my dad might not even be home for Thanksgiving. Had we gone to Bronson to begin with, this past week would have been a lot different. So, I want to say thanks again Borgess - Joseph Kovacic for that patient care.
They have done a great job. I was hit by a car and my leg was broken. They fixed me up and now I'm able to walk again, thanks to Dr. Vanlaningham.
Older hospital, but it has been updated. Very easy to spot from the road. Plenty of parking.
About a month ago, I was diagnosed at Borgess-Lee hospital that I had acute appendicitis and was highly encouraged to get surgery. After much thought and consideration, I made the decision to proceed with surgery. I was extremely nervous for various reasons, one being that this was my first surgery. Another being that I had to be put under with general anesthesia which I had never experienced either and the thought of loss of consciousness/being out of control freaks me out really bad. I had stayed the night at Borgess-Lee, but was taken by ambulance in the morning to Borgess in Kalamazoo. The paramedics in the ambulance were great people and they helped make my trip/transition a lot better than I anticipated. The time I arrived to the hospital in Kalamazoo from the time I left was an overall good experience. The staff was attentive and frequently asked me how I was feeling or if I had any questions about anything. The surgery went smoothly as well, so well in fact that I was able to go home that night. The reason I give this a 4 star is because there seemed to be minor inconsistencies or confusion amongst staff at the hospital. One doctor or PA would say that I shouldn't lift more than 10-15 lbs after my surgery, while another one said 20 lbs. Things like that. Also, after my surgery, once I was leaving recovery there seemed to be a misunderstanding amongst staff again - one person said I had to be admitted and was gearing up to keep me at the hospital over night, while another person including the surgeon said I was doing wonderfully and that I could be released for home that night. It just felt like some of the staff was not in the loop of what was going on or was not on the same page. I also wish they would have given me a print-out of everything I had done to me including medications I was given etc. They told me about everything, but considering the circumstances, I didn't remember a lot of it/the names of things. All they gave me at the end was a print-out of the surgery I had done and the after care instructions. ** As a side note, I want to express a special thank you to the recovery nurses. They were all very caring and compassionate. I remember crying when I started to come out of being under, and a nurse held my hand and comforted me. The surgery and being put under were both a scary experience for me, and it meant a lot to have people there who cared during a very vulnerable time for me. I will always remember this and have gratitude.
My daughter went to the ER tnght with chest pains. They kept her waiting in the waiting room. They finally took her back and did an ekg and stuff and sent her back to the waiting room to wait for the results. She waited an hour and a half and still no results. Thats unacceptable for chest pain patients! She finally just left and is now currently at Bronson. Theyre website states that patients with chest pain willbe treated right away as well as the posters on the walls if the ER. They apoarently dont go by their own guidelines. I see many other reviews of patients with chest pain beimg tr r ated non emergently as well. This is unacceptable! This ER is garbage. Id rather be seen by a veterinarian than this ER!
Billing department is the worst. After getting great care a service from the hospital the billing department has left a very bad impression on my visit. I gave the 2 insurances upon my husband's admission and they only billed one. It took an hour to deal with the billing department to give all the info again and 3 weeks later I am Still getting billed.
