I love coming to this place for Vietnamese fusion. They have great vegetarian and vegan options as well as gluten friendly items. I highly recommend their veggie beef! The owner is so kind and really puts care into each dish. It's very affordable and they have daily menu specials. Definitely recommend for quick takeout or casual dine in!! Looking forward to getting a Vietnamese coffee next. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian/vegan beef pho Vegetarian/vegan beef banh mi Other sandwich options Kid-friendliness: It's a casual dining experience and the owner is very friendly to everyone. Several options for sandwiches Vietnamese fusion or Western sandwiches if kids don't like Asian food. Dietary restrictions: Gluten friendly options, vegetarian options, vegan options. The owner is sure to ask every time you order a vegetarian item if you would like it veganized no fish sauce.
Very nice, clean small place. The staff is very humble and friendly. The curry I think the restaurant should write it clear that it is vegetarian, I thought it was beef but turned out it was tofu, and make sure you can handle spicy because this one is a little bit spicy. Food is okay. Hopefully more people recognize and support this small local business.
Bonus points to Boomerang for offering food at great value, diversifying the cuisine in the area finally there's Vietnamese on the Danforth!, and being so nice and welcoming thanks, owner/chef Gabriel!. We stopped by for an early dinner and got: - Teriyaki Chicken Banh Mi: The baguette is on the softer/chewier side versus hard/crispy which I liked, but can see some folks not liking it as much. Teriyaki chicken was well done and flavourful enough. Good amount of veggies, nice sauce. For just $10, it was a huge sandwich. - Vermicelli Bowl: I know this will sound weird, but the vermicelli noodles tasted really fresh which was great. The spring rolls were properly crispy. Would have liked more of the veggies though since they were a bit drowned out by the noodles. But at just $12, you get a big bowl. - Cheese Spring Rolls: Good value at just $6. Would've liked it a bit warmer and with more cheese. - Vietnamese Coffee and HK Milk Tea: Standard stuff. You can customize the sweetness. Gabriel is both the chef and owner, and seems like a genuinely nice guy. He asked for feedback while we were there, was super pleasant to deal with, and gave us an extra spring roll since my wife was a repeat customer. It's tough starting any business now, so I hope good fortunes boomerang back to Boomerang.
Gave the new Viet sandwich place a try. Ordered Bulgogi Beef and Teriyaki Chicken. These were essentially Carrot sandwiches with a garnish of name. The sandwich was mostly stuffed with carrots. I had to throw most of this mess out. This place would die a fast death on Gerrard or Dundas Chinatown. I don’t expect this outfit to last very long.
I really loved this place, I had the flower egg soup and the bacon sandwich. The food reminded me of moms cooking It felt really good like I was at home. The food tasted super good to me the bread was very soft and the bacon was flavourful. The soup was super good too, very simple but delicious. And one thing I LOVED was he gave us hot water! I am always ashamed to ask for hot water in restaurants because they look at me weird but it was so cold outside and that hot water was super refreshing and warmed up my entire body along with the soup. My brain was exploding from happy chemicals being there definitely earned a regular costumer. Never had someone serve me hot water before I felt so understood
Got the original cold cut banh mi and the bulgogi banh mi. They were both really tasty! Bread was nice and toasted, crispy on the outside soft on the inside and the meat was nice and seasoned. There isn't a lot of banh mi options on the east end, and I'm used to the ones in Chinatown Boomerangs take on the cold cuts is different but so delicious nonetheless so its nice to have this place on the Danforth! The staff seemed polite and warm when I went to pick up my order. I love that I can order directly online om their website!
Finally got to try this place after months of passing by during the renovation and I'm glad we did! We got Avocado Sweetie and Pulled Pork, and the avocado in one was so good it was unlike anything I've ever had! I've always thought of avocado as a savory food, but I was pleasantly surprised. Can't wait to try the flower soup and other items on their menu next time
I really wanted to like this place and support a new local spot but unfortunately the taste of the teriyaki chicken banh mi was just bad and sour. The sandwich did not taste good enough to eat, I think it might have been off, to be honest. I couldn't bring myself to finish my sandwich which is very rare - I threw it in the garbage. I now see that I'm not the only person who found this. I can't think of the last time I threw food away. The soft bread I see now in other reviews was ok, but of course I was expecting a more traditional crusty baguette. I'm going to try again another day because maybe this was an off day, or maybe this style of banh mi just isn't to my taste preference. Edit: I did not order on skip the dishes, I walked in and the owner was very nice! Does not change that the banh mi was inedible.
Tasty and original veg options! Been to Boomerang three times and have been really enjoying the food. I have tried their veggie seasoned beef bahn mi, the egg flower soup and the red curry. The bahn mi was well seasoned, had fresh ingredients, and I appreciated it being warm in a cold winter day - it was delicious and filling. The flower soup was unlike any soup I have tasted before. It had distinct yet not strong or overpowering flavours. Made me think it could be a great crowd pleaser at a dinner party, in that it would be easily liked by many. The curry came with a bun to dip into, and was on the spicy side. It felt homemade with big chunks of veggies and tofu it is vegan. It was so flavourful! Staff are friendly and attentive. Looking forward to continuing to try out their menu.
It not bad and decent price, but doesn’t inspire a dedicated second visit. Staff is friendly and great to see diverse cuisine! But food isn’t anything special
