Excellent Service, Delicious Pizza. We arrived to Evanston after a 4-day trip from San Francisco and we were hungry for one of Chicago's favorite dishes. We arrived at Bob's 5 minutes before closing yet, they sat us down welcoming us as the last kitchen customers. The service was superb, the atmosphere was great. There were lots of people enjoying drinks and conversation. Our pizza was custom: 1/2 veggie and 1/2 sausage with veggies. What I loved about it was the crust and the freshness of the ingredients. Excellent seasoning as well. I am a die hard Lou's fan but now I know I have another option in Evanston.
The pizza had an amazing thin crust, that was absolutely crunchy without being burnt. The pizza itself was also very good and yummy, it was very well seasoned and everything was delicious. Totally recommend!
As a pickle Connoisseur, I love the pickle pizza! The flavored melded so wonderfully! I do think they're cocktails could be better or at least fancier for the cost $10. But it's a pizza place so I left it at 5 stars.
oh boy this review is long overdo, as I have been to bobs many times and consider it one of my favorite evanston gems. I typically order takeout but today we decided to dine in. the atmosphere is always fantastic at bobs, as whoever had aux needs a raise. seriously, the music is great and is a wide range of rock usually. plus, the bar decor, and layout of the restaurant just bring a really nice feel. there are also lots of TVs if you are looking to watch a sporting event. i started with a draft beer, which they rotate frequently this time one of my favorite seasonal beers, Oberon. the rotational ciders are usually a great choice too. we got the fried pickles to start, which have the perfect light crunch, some dill as garnish and a side of ranch for dipping. we also got a apple spinach salad, which was decent tbh. I would recommend the brussels sprouts and arugula salad more. then we got a half wild mushroom pizza, half spinach pesto. there are so many great combos, so i love that you can split them. the sausage pizza, pepperoni and the pickle are great choices too. the pizzas are HUGE and the crust is a lot so one pizza can easily feed 3 people. even 4 with apps and sides. oh yeah did i mention the pizza crust is made with beer??? it’s so bubbly and crunchy, one of my favorites ! side note: i would also highly recommend the smash burger and the hot crispy chicken, both fabulous. the service here has always been quick when i come and the staff is friendly. when ordering takeout, it’s quick too, and they store your food in a hot box so it stays toasty. plus they have fun nights like trivia, good happy hour and deals throughout the week. it is a great place for college students, adults and even families. after 10, they stop serving apps and sandwiches and becomes more of a bar. it’s open late too which is a bit plus. i love this place and will continue to be a frequent visitor and i recommend trying it !
Went here when this spot was Whiskey Thief Tavern. Interior and vibe still the same for the now Bob's Pizza. Fried Pickles were thinly sliced, which I suppose is for their Pickles Pizza will try another time. The Fried Pickles were good but definitely on the salty side. Pizza was delicious but the body of the pizza could have been a bit better if left in the oven a bit longer vs a floppy base. Crust on the other hand was tasty. I can see good things happening if they had a stuff crust. Their homemade hot sauce is a must try and has a nice texture. Would be nice if they offered pizza by the slice. Overall, nice to see Downtown Evanston have a unique pizza joint.
Bob's did me dirty, it all started with the bubble-less persecco. The lack of bubbles and the flat taste left me wishing I came in yesterday so I could have enjoyed it when they first opened the bottle. I will say that the flat wine paired nicely with the slimey veggie and dry hummus plater. Although the Dijon drenched garden salad with its wilted greens did help clear my sinuses. Now I was willing to over look all these transgression since I had been told the pizza was great. Alas when the gargantuan pizzas arrived I couldn't stomach a slice of the greasy, overly salted, and slightly chemically tasting pie. I have had better over cooked Jacks pizza at home. The one star you see in my review is for the pleasant staff that greeted me.
Unfortunately, we were treated incredibly rudely by the staff and the manager at this location. The manager yelled at my friend for an honest mistake she made when ordering a pizza, and his loud screaming and humiliation was so embarrassing that my friend burst into tears. I have never seen anyone be treated so poorly at an establishment in my life. I will never return.
Really good pizza and some of the best fried pickle chips. A bit pricey but definitely great quality and great service.Recommended dishesTruffle Honey, Margherita Pizza, Fried Pickle Chips
I went to Bob’s for drinks with some friends and as we sat in the booth we were met with the waitress who we would come to learn would never check on us again. She took our first orders of drinks and appetizers, I ordered a Moscow mule and when I received it it was in a plastic cup. Over $10 for a cocktail and they can’t even serve it in the traditional copper cup. When we finished our first round of drink orders, the waitress never came back to check on us. We waited so long that we inevitably walked up to the bar ourselves to order another drink, when by that time the waitress finally comes back since she’s sees us standing up. We place our order with her and when she serves them she hands us our check even though it is an hour before closing and says “Honestly im tried of working right now so if you want to keep ordering you can do it at the bar”. Unbelievable. The whole time we were there she was sitting at the opposite side of the restaurant with her friends and a dog. Some time later, another waitress or bartender hadn’t seen her before rudely comes up to us and tells us to leave because they’re closing, even though there are other people still there. So we wait about 10 more minutes, when she returns and even more rudely says “You guys know what time it is? Time to go”. While other people were still there and it wasn’t right at closing time yet. It was incredibly disrespectful service and while I usually try to extend patience to wait staff, this was unacceptable and rude. I absolutely do not recommend this place.
Bob's Pizza in Evanston is so much fun! I go there on Wednesday nights, they do a musical bingo game, it's a riot and it's free to play! The food is great there, particularly the pizza and the beef sandwiches! The food always arrives piping hot at the table, freshly cooked by an expert chef! The wait staff is very attentive, and the bartenders are excellent mixologists! If you're searching for a fun family oriented restaurant, I highly recommend Bob's Pizza in Evanston! Five stars!
