Boat House On Swartswood Lake

Really good food, beautiful setting. Inside is hunting lodge ambiance, outside is view of the lake and stone paved plaza very well bordered by plantings. Waitrons are amazing - knowledgeable and willing to check if not. Well worth a visit.

Not impressed. We had a reservation. We asked to sit outside and we were told they shut it down due to predicted weather. Then 20 minutes in we see people seated outside (Not cool). The prices were very high while the quality of food was just average. I ordered the seafood combo (fish, shrimp, scallops all broiled the way it came no choice) the scallops were awesome (there were 2) the shrimp was dry and over cooked (there were 4) and the mystery fish was dry and over cooked as well (there was one small, I mean small, piece). I got it with rice which was nothing special just ordinary rice and it came with vegetables which were loaded with pepper I guess for taste although I don't like pepper so that's all I could taste (for me yuck). Basically the 2 scallops were the best part of the meal. So I paid $30 bucks for 2 tasty scallops. I expected better, so much better. People rave about this place and I've had better food and better service at Red Lobster and they give you more food for less money. Well lesson learned The Boat House is out. Never going there again and definitely won't recommend it!

Great selection, perfect atmosphere for a nice night out. Can be very intimate. In the spring you can even eat out on the patio next to the lake.

2 stars because atmosphere is awesome. Food quality is poor. Had prime rib sandwich and unfortunately the meat appeared and tasted days old. Didn't finish mine as it was pretty terrible. Additionally, no more breakfast menu, and they do not offer brunch although the website says brunch is available. We used to love this place but seems there were changes which, in my opinion were not for the best. We saw other people leaving due to them also thinking brunch was available. If they don't prefer to offer brunch, the website should be changed and the lunch food quality needs to be improved before we tried it again.

Place is great for the summer right on the lake however they did away with the Italian bread for the table. My only complaint. Gross Hawaiian rolls now. Please bring back the Italian bread. Other than that this place is fantastic. Also request Dawn as your server. She is the best. Update....Italian bread is back! Up to 4 stars. Lower prices slightly and you have 5 stars
