I had an issue that couldn’t be resolved through the call center pleasant call. I went into the bank and the issue was resolved promptly. Shauna was super helpful!!
Reading reviews and the same issues people complained about a year ago continue today. The automated system NEVER results in actually getting to speak to an actual person. Just want to change type of credit card, but they can't do online because they don't have any personal verification records. Really??? You have my name, DOB, obviously address I get the bills and you give me a substantial credit limit. I don't know if a teller can do this or I need an appt. Can't find out unless I drive to bank because I can't fricking call and speak to anybody!!!!
Never had such a frustrating trying to get a hold of someone at a branch, the number of loop arounds and automatic messages, wait times, and no direct line to the bank is incredibly frustrating when you are trying to deal with a problem Like your mortgage guy going on vacation which is fine a few days before your financial conditions are due and not telling you beforehand to make plans or adjustments. And not the first time either. Voice mail says call the branch manager. Can't get a hold of the branch manager or anyone at the bank and my conditions are due today.
I’ve been a BMO World Elite MasterCard holder for many many years but since the Airmiles program has finally reached rock bottom when it comes to value, I decided to cancel the card. Tried calling the World Elite toll free number, I was shocked to hear that the current wait time is 3-4 hours. No, that’s not a typo, the wait time is 3-4 friggin HOURS!!! Aren’t they ashamed or embarrassed to even record this message?? It is 2021, what can be so inefficient, useless and pathetic that they’ll need you to wait on the phone for 3-4 HOURS? After waiting for over an hour while doing other stuff of course, the line went silent. I called again and the same thing happened. I was too naive to even think that I’d get someone on the phone eventually. To cancel a credit card, you can only either do it at a bank or talk to someone at their BMO Customer Service line a complete oxymoron. I tried calling the local branch to speak with someone, after punching in a bunch of choices - that “should” patch you to someone at the branch, it bounces me right back to the same oxymoron line. There is no way I could speak with someone at BMO unless I drive out to a branch. I cannot describe how furious I am right now coz I refuse to believe it can be this disgustingly impossible to reach a BMO customer service rep on the phone. BMO claims that they “make banking easier” and that one can simply get things done online or on their mobile app. If that is the case, then why the 3-4 hour wait on their phone lines? Shame on you BMO, the only relief I get is that I will no longer be a part of your moronic circus.
The bank of the Canadian forces! Except there's no branch near CFB Gagetown, the biggest army base in the Atlantic provinces so we need to drive to Fredericton to go here for banking. Your store is under Renos, okay awesome, but you haven't updated your branch hours on the website to reflect that you're closed Saturdays and you can never get through on the phone anyway on the best of days so you just have to make the drive to see if they're open. I have twice, Saturday is the only day I have time to sort things out, to find the store closed and not a single worker there doing renovations. Thanks for the awesome service BMO, I feel very appreciated.
Edit: They seem to have hired additional staff in the front, service has improved since I wrote this review. However overbooking of backroom staff remains. Service was excellent 13 years ago when I opened my account, and has gradually decreased in quality since. Always busy, and never happy to help. Even in the odd time that they are not busy, the tellers are rude, and slow to help. The backroom staff are a bit better, but always overbooked. If you're with BMO, go to the branch downtown.
I recently had a very pleasant experience at BMO for my mortgage transfer. I had been asking about it almost a year beforehand and luckily enough I was helped by their advisor Kapo who was an extraordinary person to work with the whole way through. She was very nice, professional and knowledgeable. Not only did she offer me a very appealing rate, but she was also very attentive to all the details and my needs. For a couple months, she patiently answered all my questions and walked me through every step, which made things very easy for me. Although unfortunately due to some unforeseeable developments the deal did not go through at the end but she was still very nice about it and her conduct and good work made a very good impression on me. I will definitely still consider using BMO for all my banking needs in the future especially if Kapo is still around. Thanks Kapo!
Upon the death of both parents, I was charged with keeping their affairs in order since I am their only daughter and my brother is in Alberta. When the agent at the bank was made aware of their passing, she cut their card and denied me access.My parents have a Condo in Montreal that require monthly fees paid. One eager rep caused the Condo fee to be refused. She smirked at me. I guess it was funny to her. I plan on lawyering up and removing all our money from their institution. I'm SO angry.
Customer service I would give -10. The manager is impossible to contact. I have tried to make it work but to no satisfaction. Banking should be simpler. The bank should want to work for you. I asked a teller when I could speak to a certain person. The teller rolled her eyes and stated tonight she will be here. I asked for a time she made an annoyed look at me. 11am she will be starting. This was my first time at the banks counter. Terrible first impression.
I love this Bank. The person that I deal with is named Samie and she is amazing. I let other people go in front of me in the line to make sure that I get to go by her. She answers all my emails hastily and even goes the extra mile to show me exactly what to do. Not changing banks. Give her a promotion.
