Blue Truck Barbecue
"Offering a unique twist on smoked BBQ fare. We elevate BBQ favourites by infusing the smoke process with craft beer from Trans Canada Brewing, tantalizing your tastebuds with something truly remarkable, mouth-watering and incredibly satisfying. All served with a heaping helping of extraordinary service and value that Princess Auto is famous for! A blue truck started PA, which inspired us to go beyond what’s offered out there. It’s not just our mission to bring you something exceptional, it’s our passion. Doesn’t matter if it’s lunch or dinner with friends or family; come in and have a seat as you dig into some darn good smoked BBQ, paired with service that’s second to none. If PA thinks outside the toolbox, we think outside the lunchbox."

The atmosphere here is nice and food was absolutely delicious! The meat platter large is pictured is a lot more filling than it looks, especially with all the sides. The blueberry BBQ sauce is to die for. Thought it would be the one I would like least, but it ended up being my favorite! The only small complaint I have is that the fries and Cajun chips were a little salty, but delicious regardless. The staff are super friendly, very attentive. I highly recommend this place if you like BBQ!
Had a good business lunch here. Comfortable outdoor patio area and the inside was spacious as well. The barbecue was cooked well, flavorful, and most importantly not dry. Very fair pricing for good portions. The blueberry sauce was a pleasant one.
Wow!! What a hidden delight! Found this place by mistake and so glad that we did. My husband and I started with some burnt ends which I only got a picture of after we were halfway finished. Then we decided on the large smoked meat platter with sides of Mac & cheese and dill pickle spears to share. The platter came with a large serving of smoked pulled pork, another large serving of smoked brisket, a large piece of smoked chicken, about 4 or 5 large smoked ribs, a smoked sausage, two pieces of cornbread, and four bbq sauces, along with our two sides that we ordered. Everything was delicious!!! The coolest part was this was part of Princess Auto and the menu had a brief description of Princess Auto's history on the top - so neat. The atmosphere was a cozy industrial setting with lots of seating and the waitresses were friendly and attentive. We will definitely be returning!!!
If you have never been here, you need to go! The food, the service, and the atmosphere were amazing! Very good sized portions, served hot! Try a ‘Yellow Fruity drink’ too! Thanks for a great birthday supper with my family! Pictures are medium meat tray, full rack of ribs, and a small meat tray. My son said the mashed potatoes were wicked good!
Amazing restaurant for BBQ! Just had the Smoked Poutine with brisket and it tasted so good! The peppercorn gravy was AMAZING and also the perfect amount most restaurants will turn them into a soup!. The fries were nice and crispy! Brisket was half and half… half meat, half fat but expected. Their Arrow IPA was really good! Customer service great as well! Will definitely come back and try their Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich next!
It was ok, the restaurant is nice and clean and the washroom stalls have their own little sinks. The food is a bit pricey averaging about $20/dish. I had the slider combo and one of them was really underwhelming and dry. The other 2 were good.
Wow! Who thought Princess Auto would open one of the best restaurants in town! My favourite store is now also my favourite restaurant! The first thing we noticed was that the service was stellar, and consistently so from every staff member we interacted with. The menu is not huge, but each item is quality. The sample tray is a must try on your first visit. Just get all the BBQ sauces on the side and try the baked beans as one of your sides. The food was great quality, well prepared, and across the board delicious! The brisket managed to stand out in a crowd of already top notch dishes. The prices are reasonable and fair considering the current economy and the quality and size of the portions. With Tony Roma's exiting the Edmonton the market, The Blue Truck BBQ steps up nicely to fill the void. It's a similar menu genre, and price point but with better service, and a nicer atmosphere. The also have some interesting IPA's for those that are interested in such things. I can't review any though as I didn't try any. My only complaint is with their BBQ sauce selection. While the Traditional and the Blueberry are solid offerings, the Carolina Vinegar and The Lamp Lighter could leave the menu without being missed IMO. I'd like to see them add a nice sweet BBQ sauce, for example a Carolina Honey, to the lineup as this would compliment the Chicken and the Sausage nicely. That minor complaint aside, this place is on my HIGHLY recommended list. Vegetarian options: Not for vegetarians. They only have real food. Kid-friendliness: Not kid oriented but fine for a family with kids. Parking: Lots of free parking right out front. Wheelchair accessibility: Great wheelchair access to and inside the restaurant. Lots of space to maneuver once you're inside too. Very accessible IMO.
It was okay BBQ for takeout. I was expecting it to beat Memphis Blues. However it does not unfortunately as Memphis Blues has better value for the food and BBQ taste. I liked the Montreal Smoked Meat sandwich. There was enough smokey aroma in the sandwich but the fries are bad. The fries' texture is too crunchy not crispy like chewing on glass. The smoked meat platter was a major disappointment. I ordered large BBQ platter. The sides were disappointing as fries and house salad is the free side but anything else you have to pay extra. House salad was okay nothing special about it. Fries is the same as the Montreal Smoked Meat sandwich. The ribs were okay not fall off the bone. Chicken was okay too, but some parts of the chicken were a bit dry so the BBQ sauce makes up the dryness. There was no taste in the sausage. There was not enough food as I was expecting something like Memphis Blues platter. Instead the platter could feed 3-4 people but barely feeds us. Luckily I baked bread to make the difference. I think the menu should say how each sizes feed how much people. Two slabs of brisket for a large??? What do you get for small platter? Quarter of a slab of brisket? The main positive is that I was able to taste and smell the smokey aroma in the meat platter and the various BBQ sauces. However that is not enough for me. I'm not sure if I will return at all.
I had a fantastic lunch. Our server was fantastic. I had the rack of ribs special. It was really good. It had enough sauce.I usually ask for extra no need the ribs were well basted in sauce. Yummy!
The food is bland and forgettable. Service and food presentation great. The babyback pork ribs were dry, not very smokey, and would probably have been better with side ribs. Terrible. Skip. Brisket on its own was moist and decent, but somewhat pricy. Sadly I couldn't specify to get point meat. Try. The brisket burnt ends were not actually burnt ends not brisket point meat and thus terrible. Skip. The Montreal smoked meat sandwich was okay, but the meat was bland - not enough seasoning salt and you can barely taste the spices. Maybe try? Fried pickles were good. The Mac and Cheese was saucy yet also under seasoned. Fries were good! Service was good, and the presentation of the food looked great. Now only if it could taste as good as it looks.
