Decided to attend the Pfister Blu NYE "party" for the holiday weekend and although the hotel was very beautiful and all the staff very attentive and courteous the Blu left very much to be desired.
When I first inquired about the NYE festivities at the Blu I was informed that the event would have various musical performances as well as dancing to enjoy the evening as midnight drew near. Unfortunately what we experienced was a solitary band that took a break shortly after we arrived 9:30pm, which is fine except for the fact that they didn't go back on until 10:15-10:30pm. Additionally our waitress seemed confused in regards to what our NYE package provided us with and when we initially asked about appetizers were informed that they would be an additional charge. However after a period of 30-45 minutes when we decided to leave, we were asked if we would like instead for our appetizers that we had purchased to be sent to our room since we had not enjoyed/asked about them during a short stay at the Blu.
Long story short, as the wife & I left the NYE Blu party, I couldn't help but feel swindled as we had just spent a good sum of money for anything but what I was informed we were signing up for to ring in the new year.
Doing my homework in regards to previous NYE Blu celebrations it seems that other couples have felt the same and responses from management seem uninterested in resolving any issues/bettering the event for couples in the future. I think for future NYE celebrations we'll explore more tried and true avenues/events.
A couple additional points for Blu management.
- When setting up seating for guests that will spend upwards of $500-600 dollars it might be best to not have a credit card printer directly behind your client's ears.
- Staff that attend the evening might want to be more concerned about the guests/clients rather than their own conversations.

Did the afternoon tea tasting today at Blu. Very elegant experience. Top floor of pfister hotel so great views of the city and lake all around. Brought some guests from out of town. Had a choice from 13 unique teas. I chose cinnamon plum, was delicious. The silverware was awesome. Got some finger foods, tea sandwiches and desserts to go along with tea. Live piano in background. Excellent time sipping tea eating delicious treats and catching up.

While view is spectacular on a sunny day, the $54 per person tea experience was definitely not worth the expense. We ordered the "Victorian" assortment and were disappointed that it was still so heavily weighted towards sweets rather than finger sandwiches. The assortment produced was also missing items such as the caramelized onion quiche which we'd hoped would make the meal a bit more filling than just sweets.

Heard about the place and wanted to check it out for myself. The atmosphere was beautiful but the waitress was very rude. She hardly ever looked in the direction of me and my guest, asked everyone around us if they was okay but made it her business to ignore us. Her rudeness was so noticeable, that the people across asked if we would like some of their nuts because she didn't give us our own complementary dish. Watching her give others great service made me wanna cry because I wasn't given that same respect. We were also paying customers; the only difference between us and them was our skin color, we just happened to be the only black couple in there at that time. The service was so hurtful, that all I wanted to do was leave. She wouldn't even bring our check when we asked for it, my date had to go up to the bar and ask someone there for it. Even on the way out she passed by me at the elevators and gave me one of the coldest looks I've ever recieived. The waitress who's name begins with the letter A. provided us with that horrible service on Saturday January 20th 2018 between 7:30-8:00 p.m.

The view is amazing and the drinks are strong in taste. For some people, that can be a good/bad thing. I really enjoy their live music on certain evenings, however, it can be hard at times to carry a conversation since it's a small room and the music can get very loud. The other feature that can be good/bad is the limited seating and if you are going on a date night, you don't get much privacy as you have to share a lounge area with complete strangers. It's great if you are a social butterfly, but if you are looking for more privacy, I would refrain and save this for another time.
