Went in for additional information on Monday I was given all the information I needed. Thanks.

Went in again on Tuesday morning with the family for Visa application.  Servers down. Wasted an  hour till the update was verbalized.

Went in again Wednesday morning. The staff member who did my Visa applications was extremely helpful. 

I guess you treat people behind a counter exactly the way you want to be treated in return.
Can't imagine why the naysayers are so upset with them.

I went to apply for a fresh passport this morning. I was called to the counter and greeted well and spoken to with respect. The person at the counter Mr. Antony answered my questions, he was approachable. The office opens at 8 am. I went there around 7.30 am. While there are tons of bad reviews out there about the place, please go with an open mind with all your documents as listed, you will have your work completed on time and have a good experience which both you and the people working there deserve.

Called in advance to make sure I can submit my applications. Drove here to get here in time only to be turned away saying that it's only open right now to 'pick up'. As a frequent flyer to India, who happens to travel there annually, I find it inconvenient EVERY year. There is practically no structure to simply apply for a tourist Visa. If we are allowed to make suggestions to this, I'd suggest to structure an online visa process for Canadians. This embassy is an embarrassment if it's the face of India. Thought it would improve after my previous feedback but clearly some things never change.

No wonder this place has lots of 1 stars. Wanted to clear one thing - staff working here does not have any control over rules and regulations set by Government of India. They just do their job as guidelines set. 

Give yourself at least 2 working days to get things done here. Try to reach around 7am (they open at 8am) to insure your number comes before noon and you can go back on same day if anything else required.  Key here is to speak with the staff nicely. Again, they are third-party and no one works for government of India.

Suggestions:
Let this place run by Canadians (white people(sorry not sorry)) with good software. Have one staff seating at reception to scrutinize application before issuing token number. I bet this will minimize number of people waiting.

It’s one of the most pathetic services I have experienced anywhere in Canada. Dirty signs outside, filthy furniture and flooring inside, rude and uncaring service inside. From security, reception to clerical processing staff - rude and uncaring. One has to wait for hours in line. If I didn’t have family obligations, as a tourist I would have changed my mind about visiting a country represented by these welcoming people. The country is supposed to be making progress. This pathetic front end performance is very shameful for people who feel proud of their indian origin. 
High commissioner, do some thing about india’s Branding in Canada.
