We had a wonderful service. The meal was reasonably priced. Oysters were great. Our appetizer was amazing. Felt like both entrees were a bit dry and overcooked even with the sauces. The dessert was delicious, salted caramel crepe cake. Worried about it being cloying or overly sweet but it wasn’t. Chocolate cookies were slightly crisp on the outside and then underbaked inside. Took them home to finish cooking and ate them with ice cream. Overall, this will be a place I could add to my Happy Hour list for the bar menu, appetizers and oysters.
Overall, a great experience. Service was friendly and excellent, food came out in courses at a reasonable pace despite a full dining room, and most of the food and drinks were delicious. The only dish that really fell flat for us was the steak tartare. I don't know if there were supply issues or what, but the bed of chopped iceberg lettuce and oversized diced tomatoes was totally unnecessary, plus the heavy sauce masked any flavor from the already weak meat. The oysters on the other hand were FANTASTIC and definitely a highlight on the menu. The portion sizes are simply unpredictable - some were reasonable for one, and others, like the desserts, were clearly meant to be shared. On the whole, worth a repeat visit.
My daughter, her boyfriend, and I went to their Saturday brunch. It was so delicious and a fun atmosphere. My daughter loves trying new foods and restaurants, and she was very impressed. We will go back when they are in town next time. They had a musician performing guitar and singing who was really good and the volume was perfect. There were all ages of people in the restaurant, including children.
Food was excellent, atmosphere modern and fun, service top notch. Save room for dessert-SO worth it. Only complaint is we were there for our anniversary, and we're not offered anything "extra". The hostess wished us a happy anniversary; however, complimentary dessert or something would have been nice. It's a small thing, but would have put the experience at an A+.
Vibrant city atmosphere, friendly efficient staff, unique menu selections. The steak tartare was amazing, I really liked the heirloom tomato salad, and the Arctic Char was tasty though a bit under seasoned, the crepe cake was very good.
Beautifully placed in a historic building, food is great, staff genuinely love working here. There’s a prominent oyster bar, fresh overnight from both ocean coasts. The menu is loaded with lots of options in appetizers, main courses and desserts, as well as abundant bar and brunch items. It’s a great place for drinks and socializing.
Great spot for a excellent meal. Reservations are highly recommended, otherwise you might end up at the bar and there are only maybe ten seats max. It's hard not to get the duck when the restaurant is named Blue Duck kitchen. If you haven't had it before, make sure you get it on your next visit. The bread pudding was ridiculously good. I would go back just for that. Swing by and have a bite, you won't be disappointed.
Food was delicious. The cauliflower with humus was so fresh and perfect summer appetizer. The trout with the bean purée was so good. Nice ambience, the staff is very friendly and accommodating.
We enjoyed the oysters and haricots verts. I ordered a chef's catch which is a monk fish. It was fresh with a fine taste. My friend ordered the short rib kimchi fried rice. I liked the idea of it but we both felt it was way too salty. The pumpkin spice crepe cake tasted as phenomenal as it looks.Food: 4/5
Unbelievable food and execution. Rochester is lucky to have this restaurant! Very friendly staff. Prices are good and beverage selection great.
