Had a wonderful time getting together with a larger group of friends and thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here. Authentic Hungarian cuisine, delicious dishes and very friendly staff. We've tried quite a lot of things from the menu, loved what we've tasted so far, and we will definitely come back! The location is very convenient which makes this restaurant easily accessible in downtown Toronto.
Authentic Hungarian cuisine, a cozy restaurant that feels both modern and homey at the same time. Server/Hostess Greta was excellent and handled our large group always with a smile. It was a great dining experience, food was delicious and well plated with good portions. Highly recommended this restaurant and will definitely be back.Food: 5/5
We've been a couple of Hungarian restaurant in Toronto or GTA. Black Tulip is going to be our #1. Good selection of Hungarian food. They are tasty, fresh and also good portions. I recommend to everyone who tired of eating shawarma:-
It was my first foray into Hungarian cuisine and I’m glad I went here! The goulash soup was flavourful and nourishing. On the recommendation of my server, I followed that with a half portion of the turogomboc naked cottage cheese dumplings. Very yummy and slightly sweet/sour. I’m looking forward to returning and trying something else new next time. :
Went for Valentines Day. Not the best menu for the special occasion but it was alright. 1st time for everything. Salad n Lamb was delicious.Food: 3/5
Oh gosh, what an amazing find! We stopped by here for a refreshing afternoon dessert and we tried the somloi. It was heavenly!!! The owner was extremely friendly and hospitable. The menu features wide selection of authentic Hungarian food and we can't wait to come back to try! A 5 star easily! Highly recommend!!!
The Chef's platter for 2 was incredible, and would recommend this to anyone looking for Hubgarian food.Food: 5/5
The best Hungarian restaurant in Toronto. The food is authentic, delicious and fresh. The schnitzel, red cabbage and home fried potatoes were delicious, with generous portions. I especially loved the cottage cheese crepe palacsinta for dessert. Highly recommend if you’re looking for authentic Hungarian comfort food.
We went in a large group of 15 and ordered in advance. Everything came out quickly and you could tell it was fresh. Everything was delicious with large portions. I would heartily recommend eating here and we will definitely be back.Food: 5/5
Last evening a group of friends and myself went to the Black Tulip. I read the review and we decide to try it out as all the review were great. Our service was great. Two of us order the veal schnitzel and one couple order the port schnitzel. I want to say that the Goulash soup and it was delicious. I ordered what I though was veal schnitzel and ended up with pork schnitzel. It was a large piece and did not taste like veal. The couple that order the Pork schnitzel said it was tough and so much breading and very oily. The veal schnitzel that the second couple ordered veal schnitzel and it was very touch and oily. The chef came out to speak with us and said that she was sorry that I got the port schnitzel and made excursive that if you go to the Europe Hungarian Restaurant at Lawrence and Bathurst and order veal schnitzel they give you port. I have been going to Europe for many years and I do not believe that they give something else and that is slander to another restaurant. The chef is a lair and the server said that we have a choice of two sides. I order the dumpling and grilled vegetables and one of the couples order the same as I did and the server did not advise us that there was a $3.00 charge for the grilled vegetables. We all ended up ordering the chicken schnitzel and were charged for the veal schnitzel and were not told that we were being charged the fee for the veal schnitzel. As you can see that the Black Tulip restaurant chef and server are dishonest. I suggest that if you try this restaurant as questions to everything that you order to make sure that you are getting what you are paying for. It is a very clean and quite restaurant. But the owner/chef and her sever are very dishonest.
