Cute cafe with outdoor seating perfect for people watching. Ordered the Vermonter and a tropical wave smoothie for hubby and I to share between meals. The panini was flavorful and the smoothie was amazing. The -1 star is because the cost but I bet rent for this prime location doesn’t come cheap. They clean bathrooms for customers and a unique selection of cards to browse while waiting for food. Frankly I’d order that Tropical wave smoothie again and again because it was so refreshing.
Blackcap has become my go-to coffee shop and I am happy to be a loyal customer! Cozy atmosphere, amazing croissants and I’m saying that after having lived in France for six months!, and super friendly staff. Their house-made almond milk is so creamy and delicious. I always get an almond mocha latte with an extra side of the milk because it’s that good. So grateful for this place:
Great service, fast ordering and short wait time less than 3 minutes for our drinks. Got a matcha latte and and dirty chai 1 espresso and chai with oatmilk. Both drinks were delicious and on par with many other coffee shops nearby. It's a great shop to stop by and they also have brews and baked goods which I have had in the past and were fine. If you need a quick cup of coffee abd you are near Church street you can't go wrong. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free foods and bake goods. Oatmilk offered as dairy alternative.
I came in ready to be snarky, because Black Cap isn't Uncommon Grounds and oh gosh do I miss Uncommon Grounds, and I'm resentful of the jacked rent that drove them off Church Street. So this is the first time I've been to Black Cap. I started just wanting their cheapest coffee and a spot to sit outside in early morning Church Street. But I walked in and any chance of that snarkiness melted away. It's like walking into that first room at the Wonka Factory: slightly overwhelming in a good way as you take in all of the delicious options around you. People, they have the best baker in the northeast. Just look at the gat-dang lamination in this ham and cheese croissant. The seasoning on the top. The perfectly toasted cheese that crept out the ends. Every bite was a marvel of flavor and texture and crispy auditory pleasure. When was the last time you ate something that captivated every single one of your senses? I need to come back another time just to eat the darn thing without spending 95% of my attention being astonished at it. And possibly bring a bib, because I am far too clutzy an eater to not get flakes of pastry all over myself in the process. Amazing. Just, superlative pastries. And all of the other entries in the thesaurus for "incredible." Do not sleep on this like I did. Go enjoy.
Friendly, cool, Chic and cozy little coffee shop in the middle of Church market. Helpful, knowledgeable and friendly staff helps make every coffee and fresh baked pastries and cake to their fully tasteful potential... The atmosphere is nice and relaxed and the place is a welcome change from the outdoors cold weather. The lemon bar was absolutely great and the fresh latte with maple was a wonderful surprise of fresh flavors.
I don’t recommend Black Cap. They have a poor policy. I traveled hours from Canada to come to Burlington, I needed to go to the washroom i asked the girl at the counter she said no i need to buy and pay to have access, I was about to do so anyway but it was “urgent” to go to the washroom! I could not even think of what I wanted to eat. If you are on a tourist area and you have this kind of bad service and policy you are not going far! Never again.
Okay. This is the first review I’ve ever posted… but this was hands down the best pastry I’ve ever had in my life. This is the orange zest morning bun. The outside was perfectly delicate and flaky with the perfect amount of caramelization, and the inside was soo soft. The flavor was spot on… seriously life-changing pastry. Jealous of everyone who lives here and has access to this regularly!
Local coffee shop offering assortment of teas and coffees, pastries, and sandwiches. We visited on a Saturday morning and there was a single barista who was friendly, but busy. He did a great job considering. Coffee was pleasantly strong. Iced lattes were sweet.
Warm and inviting space with plenty of options for coffee and beer drinkers and a cabinet of sweets. The coffee is a little on the pricier side, especially if can’t drink milk and need a milk alternative +1$. The specialty drinks also look delicious but if you aren’t a mocha fan there isn’t much on that menu for you. There is a sizeable list of flavors you can add on the menu as well! Our service was quick, polite, and friendly! We really felt welcome and the cut back seating makes the store extra cozy.
Excellent place for coffee and snacks. They open at 8:00am, which works for me. Parking: It's on Church, so you have to use metered street parking if you drive. Wheelchair accessibility: No obstacles.
