Story

Bistro on Roe is a relaxed and easy-going restaurant with a welcoming staff and a warm, inviting atmosphere. We serve food which is simple, fresh, and prepared with quality ingredients. We offer a dinner menu with daily specials and have a terrific little wine-list .

The bistro’s stylish décor is elegant yet comfortable and service is friendly and uncomplicated. There is no “dress code” at the Bistro. You are welcome to dress up or down, as you wish.

We are open for dinner from Monday through Saturday at 5:00. Our last seating is 8:30.

We welcome groups and can cater to your private function. Gift certificates are available in any denomination.

Reservations are strongly recommended but not required.

We had such a lovely meal here, a definitely must-visit if you’re in Gander. We came here for lunch and ordered the seafood chowder, cod cakes, and the daily sandwich specials. The chowder was light, flavourful, and filled with plenty of fresh seafood. The cod cakes and sandwiches were also wonderful. Prices are very reasonable as well. The restaurant is very classy, presentation is very nice, and the service is great. We also tried two iced teas and two hot teas, they were all very good.
We stopped in for lunch while shopping in Gander. Friendly service. Great food. Nice selection of tea. Neat little gift options all around. I had the beet and Feta salad and my wife had the cod cakes. It was a refreshing little stop.
Absolutely amazing food and atmosphere! Felt very welcome and warm the whole time with such a nice server, the steak sandwich was innovative and had great flavor if you like goat cheese and something a little different. The cheese balls were flavorful with a great tomato sauce and balance with cheese and risotto, the butternut squash soup was beautifully light and tasty and went so well with the bread with it. The chili was not crazy but it was a nice warm meal that satisfyed my girlfriend so it must have been pretty good. Lastly, the partridge berry flake made with crispy phyllo dough, whipped cream and an intensely tart but sweet partridge berry sauce was one of the best desserts I’ve ever had! It was so crispy and went together so well with the lightly sweet cream and sauce and the plating was very clean and well put together. Overall the Newfoundland tea Co. is one of the best restaurants in central with amazing food, atmosphere, and a friendly staff, the prices can get a bit high but it’s worth the cash for this experience. Plus the tea is really good:, 10/10 would go again.
Delicious food! The scallop linguine was rich and creamy and the scallops were cooked perfectly! Took my mom out for a nice dinner and she is very picky but she loved the French onion soup. I had their specialty iced tea and it was delicious too as well as the baguette was soft and crunchy at the same time! I bought so many souvenirs for my family and friends back home too! Will definitely visit again!
Great helpful staff. Good chowder.... but if you're expecting a think broth, this isn't it. They don't use flour in theirs. Cod cakes were a bit bland. We blasphemied the lemon curd cheesecake before taking a photo. It was delicious.
