Birkdale Ravine, Hyland Creek Watershed, Thompson Park, Scarborough Civic Centre, Albert Campbell Square, Scarborough Town Centre We started at the Birkdale Ravine Trail until we reached the Scarborough Town Centre. This is like green space within the city. We hiked this Trail in the winter and I absolutely have no recall of the Trail. The landscape changes with the season. We've been in Canada this long and this is the first time we're seeing the Civic Centre and the Campbell Square. I guess we never bothered to check these out, only the Town Centre which is a shopping mall and the subway. Found a few flora and fauna species along the way.
2022 July 4.5 The Birkdale Ravine is located in the watershed of Highland Creek - the most developed watershed in the Toronto region. However, due to its location and connectivity to other natural areas such as Morningside Park, Birkdale Ravine functions as a migration corridor for birds and other wildlife. Restoration efforts, including tree and shrub plantings, have been undertaken to protect and enhance this section of Highland Creek. This Ravine is great for walking, riding a bike or ebike. It's very well connected to the area and other paths. At the north side/entrance there's a community recreation center. On the other end there's a parking lot that can accommodate about 25 cars and a decent park with a rope climbing structure, swings and spinners. Stay on trails. Keep dogs on a leash. Don't disturb plants or wildlife.
Great place to take your morning or afternoon walks i would recommend more mid spring into late summer due to the fact that there is not a-lot of maintenance along the trail regardless lovely place to see nature the cute little duckies other runners people with there dogs gets me motivated to exercise personally love it the trail leads into Thompson park which also is a great spot for family picnics partys and other events
It was a nice park for a walk and to see the Sakura trees. I did not go during the peak blooming time this year. The trees were much nicer near the end of April. I visited the park on Mother’s Day. Luckily I was still able to catch the last part of the Sakura before they fell to the ground. The park was really big and not too crowded. I was thankful that I don’t need to travel far to High Park to take nice photos of the Sakura trees. It was a gift to see these smaller trees. I could easily take beautiful photos of these Sakura closely. This was the second time I came to this park to check out the Cherry Blossoms. We came during the blossom bloom this year. It was the Thursday before Mother’s Day. The park was very calm and it was nice to walk around on a sunny day. On that day, the Cherry blossoms there only bloomed 50%. It still takes time to full bloom. The little Cherry blossom trees didn’t look as attractive as the bigger Cherry blossom trees at other locations. However, if you want to take some nice photos without a crowd of people around the trees, this location is not a bad choice.
One of the best places near the Scarborough Town Centre to rejuvenate in the greens. The ravine sounds so soothing that it can relax your mind to the core by listening to its symphony along the walking trail. Enjoy your time here if you plan to visit during the summer and fall months.
Nice little park and pretty walking path which runs along a creek. It’s surprisingly very quiet on the path with few other walkers or cyclists. The path is approx 1km long one way, but continues across the street at Thomson Memorial Park which is much busier since it has a larger park and splash pad. At the end of the path near Birkdale Community Center Lawrence & Brimley there are some nice new exercise bars and bench to add a little extra to your walk.
Great local ravine and park area in Scarborough. Pedestrian and bike traffic, cement walkway right along a shallow waterway. Play areas/exercise areas for kids and adults. Can walk from Ellesmere over around and come out on Brimley. Lots of bird activity, especially in Spring during the migration. Deer, great blue heron, hummingbirds, hawks, warblers, flycatchers, ducks, lots of butterflies to see, and tons of wild flowers Spring and Summer. Pretty winter or summer and a great place for a short walk.
A small but nice playground for kids but no water fountain or washrooms. The nicest thing about this park is that the play surface is made from recycled car tires.
A wonderful space to spend an evening. I had the opportunity to walk along the west highland creek and I must say it was very much a pleasant walk. The nice chilly weather along with the flowing stream add colors to it.
This place is really nice during the sunny day You could go for a run or maybe walk with your dog
