"Birch Terrace Supper Club in Grand Marais offers a scenic view of the North Shore. The restaurant has been in operation for 75 years and the dining room maintains its historic look from the 1900s giving visitors an unique dining experience. This North Shore restaurant features dining options by the open window and has a family and pet-friendly atmosphere. There's a separate bar-lounge and there's a large patio with outdoor dining and live music in the summer. Birch Terrace specializes in smoked ribs and brisket. It also offers kid-friendly menu and includes burgers up to steaks and seafood. The bar is open daily from 3 p.m. to close. Full menu and take out is available every day. Ordered a ribeye medium rare came out well done. Asked to send it back, waitress said it would take 45 mins. WTH I said I guess I'll eat it. Complained when she brought the bill. She talked to the manager. Said because I ate most of it they wouldn't do anything. It was very dry and a cheap cut , no cap.
They do barbecue and steaks really well, but the other food we got was a bit underwhelming. We got there just before the supper rush, which was nice because things definitely got a bit slow with the staff shortage. Our waiter was pleasant enough for our table, but we every once in a while heard him talking to the other patrons and he sounded a bit gruff.
My son loved his tender meal. My fish was good sans one overcooked piece. Drinks were strong and quick so I didn't mind. Nice view also. Smoking is allowed outside too if that matters but because of social distancing it isn't a bother though.
We had the burger with fries and homemade mac n' cheese - everything was very delicious! Mac n' cheese was a little rich for my liking, but that's just a preference. Friendly service. Sit indoors or on the porch for a quiet dinner or out on the patio if you're in the bar crowd. Great view of Lake Superior!
Fantastic smoked meats, specifically the ribs and brisket. Best side was the hashbrowns and atmosphere was really great with a wonderful Christmas tree. We were there for an early Christmas and couldn’t have been more pleased!Dine in: Yes

Don’t let any negative comments in the reviews impact your decision to check this place out. My girlfriend and I went here last night and had a blast. The shrimp were HUGE and the brisket was as good as everyone says it is. The hash browns were yummy. Drinks poured perfectly. What really stands out though is the friendly staff and genuine feel of the people. Other places we ate had almost rude servers and an arrogant feel. Not here! Most of the patrons were locals which says a lot. Give this place a try, you won’t regret it!
Authentic supper club, good portions, l accommodating, clean, spacious, and also… a tub in the bathroom if you need cleaning. Haha, just unexpected.Recommended dishesSpaghetti and Meatballs, Hash Browns, Fish and Chips, Large House Salad
Bad food and bad taste. Tried multiple things and best was salad with Caesar dressing.
What an amazing meal! Amy our server, was very friendly, took care of us and was always checking to see if we needed anything. I ordered the shrimp and was not disappointed. They were HUGE and delicious! My husband had the brisket. Very tender and full of flavor. We come to Grand Marais a couple times a year to camp and will definitely make this a go to place to eat! Food was fast and hot. Thank you Amy for the excellent service. See you in the fall.
