I can not recommend this shop for government inspections. I am terribly dissatisfied with the service that I received from this shop. After spending my hard earned money on a permit and insurance so that I could drive to the shop, the mechanic was a half hour late for the appointment and then refused to do my inspection because he said the “Jeep has no doors” and was an “instant fail”. I informed him that 1968 Jeep CJ5s didn’t come standard with doors and are actually exempt from requiring doors but he just arrogantly ignored me and refused to do the inspection. He didn’t even call anyone to check. He said he didn’t have time to call anyone. I showed him that the Jeep had no door hinges and no wear marks proving that the Jeep never had doors but he continued to arrogantly ignore me so I left the shop feeling very frustrated and frankly ripped off because I spent money for a permit and wasted a whole morning. The very next day I purchased another permit from ICBC and then went to a reputable shop a few blocks away where the friendly mechanic actually took the time to check with the proper authorities and confirmed that I was in fact correct that the a 1968 Jeep CJ5 doesn't require doors. The fact of the matter is that all Jeep CJs manufactured before 1986 may qualify for this exemption. See attached image of government bulletin #06-13 from May 08, 2013 proving that I was right.
