Big Bear Lake State Forest Campground

Beautiful glass like lake which is decently sized and surrounded by trees. There are a few houses built on the lake. We had a lake view campsite which was beautiful. The water was warm for an inland lake and shallow for a ways out. The beach was soft and sandy. The vaulted toilets weren't too bad. The second day started to get pretty stinky but the toilets farther down weren't as bad. The only negative that I would say (which is why I gave it 4/5 instead of 5/5) is that the army has a location nearby so you will have mortars and artillary going off. I wouldn't recommend this place for a veteran with PTSD. Otherwise, the noise isn't going off all night and it wasn't too distracting. The "hiking" around here was more like a stroll through the neighborhood woods. Totally worth it for a beach weekend of camping.

Been fishing, jet skiing and generally around big bear lake for years. Always have went to this state campground to play, haven't brought the camper here yet, though we plan to soon.

It has a very nice beach especially good for small kids the water is shallow for quite a ways out.
