Bidwell Tavern Cafe

We got carry out this time. They have a huge menu with lots of good choices and great service, super friendly. Nice to sit at the bar, dining room or outdoors. They are cool with dogs outdoors. It was raining and we had our dog so we got carry out, cheeseburger, chili fries, and some other stuff.

Came back after 16 years and it was every bit as delicious as I remember. Had the baked scallops and the clam chowder. Hubby's wings were also fantastic. Service was superb. Look forward to coming back on our next visit to CT!

Price has gone up a little bit but as a treat it's still well worth the trip! As of currently November 2021 you can get 30 wings for 35$, pick from over a dozen different sauces, 3 flavor choices if you get 30 wings and go to town on them!Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: YesTakeout: Yes

I’ll be honest here. The atmosphere was great. Typical old tavern restaurant that is around New England. Wings were good, but not blow my socks off. They were big and sauced right. Lots of flavors to choose from. There was five of us that went: Burger was on point, my 9 y/o ate the entire thing and said it was cosmic, 16 y/o had the chicken broccoli Alfredo and ate all of it, 13 y/o had a salad and clam chowder she said it was just whatever, not great and wouldn’t order again. Wife had a Cajun pasta thing and wasn’t wowed, had good spice, but just blah. I had the French dip, nope won’t order that again. Bread came out soggy like wet dough and had massive onions on it and the cheese wasn’t melted. I know my French dips and this wasn’t it. Definitely just your run of the mill place out here nothing exciting. Good Guinness on tap.

First time eating here: Enjoyed a great lunch at the bar on a busy Friday after Thanksgiving! Service was slow, only because there was only one person running the bar, I felt bad for her, but I hope she did well on tips that day!! Food was absolutely delicious! I ordered the prime rib wrap...beef was very tender, veggies peppers and onions were sautéed perfectly and seasoned just right...i ate the whole thing!! Tasted fabulous! Highly recommend!

I’ve been a Coventry resident since 2013 and Bidwell is a place of comfort for me. I can’t say enough good things about the staff there. Every time I’ve gone and sat at the bar my bartenders were absolutely amazing! Great food, great drinks and a comfy atmosphere!

We just moved to this town and we decided to eat at this tavern. The place was clean the wings are awesome!! The pretzels and beers deep even better! We then ordered a plate of nachos and the chicken sliders!! We enjoyed everything we will definitely be back!

Visited there on Thursday for lunch. Ordered the “Tavern Melt”. Description on the menu sounded delicious. EXTREMELY disappointed with an overcooked, dry, flavorless burger nowhere near a half pound. The waiter never told me the iced tea was not refillable, so I spent $8 on iced tea. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. Our entire party of 4 had problems with their meals. We won’t be back and we certainly won’t recommend this tavern to anyone. By the way, we drove an hour to get there.

Typical bar food, nothing special. Our waitress was great. The honey mustard chicken tenders were disgusting.They were all extremely covered in nasty tasting honey mustard, served on a tray with paper. Paper and food bonded togheter, SIMPLY GROSS! Not for me.

We love this place! It's our go-to lunch spot when we take a ride through the back roads of Connecticut. The historic Tavern is a wonderful setting with great comfort food and service to match.
