To proclaim by our words and actions the Good News of Jesus Christ so that everyone we encounter willfully accepts Jesus as Lord and is saved.
As you can see from above, our Vision at Bible Faith Church is to proclaim by our words and actions the good news of God and of Jesus, in order that those we meet wilfully accept Jesus Christ as Saviour and prosper, spirit, soul, body, socially and financially.
In order to focus on our God-given task, there are basic steps that are to be identified. Once these fundamental steps are understood then the only remaining factor is to systemically act on those steps.
In order to cause the mandate of a “growing church with You in mind” to manifest, practical steps are necessary in order to succeed.
After much prayer and biblical consideration the following God-inspired plan was made clear to me. It forms the first of a three-year plan for Bible Faith Church of Toronto.
The plan is best remembered by the word GAIN. Each letter forms an important element of the four-phase message of gaining for the Kingdom of God. The year 2000 signified the first of the three-year plan.
The first letter “G” of the word GAIN outlines the fundamental characteristic of the Christian life, GIVING. In a very practical way the bible teaches that the Christian must give of their TIME, EFFORT and FINANCES. In essence, this principle is the key characteristic that identified JESUS CHRIST.
The bible outlines the following verses with regards to giving: “Give and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” Luke 6:38
“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.” Galatians 6:7
Therefore He says: “When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men.” Ephesians 4:8
We are asked to give what we have, not what we do not have. We need to be committed to giving as a way of life and not as an occasional benevolent act. By establishing a consistent, methodical, and increasingly giving attitude with our time to church ministries and faithfulness in tithes and offerings for further expansion of the gospel message, we are setting in place the first important step.
The second letter “A” in the word GAIN signifies attention and attendance to God’s Word and work. Attending to God’s work means putting the Word of God first in our lives. We are to attend to the study of God’s word. “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15
Attend to Prayer “And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.” Ephesians 6:17,18 Praise & Worship “ Enter into His gates with thanksgiving. And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.” Psalm 100:4 “Seven times a day I praise You, Because of Your righteous judgments.” Psalm 119:164
This attention begins at home in our personal lives but must extend to our corporate life in the church. Attendance to weekly services is the natural outcome of personal attention to God and His Word. Weekly church services are an opportunity for us to express God’s character in tangible ways and receive impartation, edification, and comfort.
“But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men.” 1 Corinthians 14:3
“not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:25
This important step allows us to be prepared for the next challenge.
This third letter of the word GAIN is “I” which means INVITE others to receive Jesus as Lord, to be filled with the Holy Spirit and to church services. “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. (10) For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:9,10
Then they said to the woman, “Now we believe, not because of what you said, for we ourselves have heard Him and we know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world.” John 4:42
We should witness to people we know in our sphere of influence, it is our mission field. God has called us all to be ambassadors. “now then, we are ambassadors for Christ….” 2 Cor. 5:20a
Our lives are to be an open invitation to people we associate with to get to know our Lord and Savior. We have a tremendous opportunity every day to introduce individuals God has placed in our path, either on a one-time basis or day-to-day basis, to JESUS CHRIST. It is our invitation on behalf of God that will welcome new people into the Kingdom of God. God desires all to be saved. “who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” 1 Timothy 2:4
The final letter of the word GAIN is “N” and it refers to our NATION and all NATIONS represented in Toronto. God’s desire is that we reach all mankind beginning with people we know. “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8
God has promised us that as we preach and teach His Word to all NATIONS, then we can claim them for the Kingdom of God. “Ask of Me, and I will give You the NATIONS for Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth for Your possession.” Psalm 2:8
We are workers together with Christ Jesus to reach a hurting world. We have the message of hope, Jesus died and rose again for all people of all NATIONS.
This is the GOOD NEWS.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
1. GIVE of your time, effort and finances to the church.
2. ATTEND to God’s Word. Study, pray and praise. Remember personal relationship leads to public service.
3. INVITE people you know to receive Jesus and invite them to church.
4. Believe that you can, with God’s help, and actions, reach the NATION and all NATIONS for Jesus Christ.
