It's a beautiful restaurant located close to the waterfront. The food was ok, but it wasn't anything to write home about, and a bit overpriced for the portions. The seafood chowder was good. The service was a bit slow but that's understandable these days. Overall it was a good experience and I would recommend if you don't mind spending a few hours for dinner.
We had lunch at the Bell Buoy Bistro today. We dined out front on the deck, even though it was a little windy and on the verge of rain. It was still an enjoyable lunch. Although it might have been better had we ate inside with a view of the water. But either way they are both nice choices. The wife had Lobster stuff mushrooms, which she really liked. Although the dish it was served in made it look much bigger than the portion actually was. I went for the fish and chips. That was good, but not outstanding to me. There was only one piece of Haddock, and fries. But at least it was a big enough piece that I didn't leave feeling like I was still hungry. And to be fair, I did enjoy my lunch. We did find the prices to be a little on the high side for what we felt we were served. But I don't feel like we were robbed either. The staff were all very nice to us and made us feel welcome. So for what it's worth, I probably would eat at the Bell Buoy Bistro again if the occasion arose. But nest time I would take the water view over the deck on the road side.
My experience was excellent. The service was excellent, the food was amazing. The liver dinner is to die for. The Bistro Salad has an amazing homemade strawberry vinaigrette that is absolutely delicious. The owner was great going around to the tables to see if everyone enjoyed their delicious meals. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. My hats off to the staff and owners.
A great location with a Harbour view. Live local music, which was a delight. Servers were overly busy, but very courteous and attentive. A delicious meal. Licensed, of courseFood: 5/5
Weary travellers stopped for some dinner on Saturday evening and these lovely people managed to fit us in despite a private party inside. The service was very friendly and efficient, the food was phenomenal and the beer selection was very welcome after 20 hours’ journey. We also very much enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and the country music. Thoroughly recommended.
Arrived Oct 15th with fiancee and family. Ordered chicken wings tossed in medium sauce. The wings looked shriveled up and barely contained any meat. I'd bet any money they were from the grocery store in freezer aisle. Incredibly small portion for 18 dollars. Don't waste your time with this dump. We would of been better off going to the local needs and purchasing beef jerky...at least it would of tasted better.
Very bad service, I was going to say poor but it was bad. The waiter didn't know the food menu or the drinks avalible. Once we finally figured out the drinks, It took forever to take our order our drinks were almost done so we settled up and left. There were 4 servers behind the bar chatting while we waited. To top it off the menu price for drinks did not match the bill, the price on the bill was more.
Very dark why paint it black inside? Weird layout as well. We were seated in the middle of the restaurant in what looked like a coral. Open up your space and add some lighting and give yourself a brighter paint job c
I thought this restaurant was great. We were able to be seated immediately to a table with a view on a Saturday night without a reservation. I had the fish and chips which was delicious and the service was very attentive which was a pleasant surprise after being ignored at a competing restaurant around the corner. In my opinion a hidden gem !
I rarely write reviews, especially bad ones but considering this was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had...I felt compelled too. My family of 13 from various parts of Canada came to Baddeck for my father's birthday and we chose this restaurant. Bad decision! The customer service was terrible, the poor girl who I am sure was overwhelmed seemed very confused and didn't know the menu at all. it took 2 hours and 15 minutes to get our food sporadically. Most items were forgotten and missed so we had to wait longer. The bruschetta was 2 small pieces of bread and the cup of chowder was the smallest I've seen. I ordered the pan fried haddock and it had zero seasoning on it, it was merely a piece of fish with fried flour. The rice pilaf was horrid, it had candied cranberries in it BUT the vegetables were delicious lol. 85% our party did not enjoy the food at all and it wasn't cheap. We don't mind paying a pretty penny but when the service and the food is bad...it left a bad taste in our mouth! Now for the billing part! Because we were paying separately, the waitress said we could come up to the till tp pay afterwards. So we did. We all paid for what we assumed we ordered but my brother was the last to pay and he got stiffed with an extra $72 of items that were 'left over". How does that even happen? Anyway, we enjoyed the live music and the views but we will certainly never return, sadly.
